I think you already know the answer. (NO) Since you already have installed used modules on the same kind of global A vehicles, and had successfully program. Sure try and let us know how it went!! Good luck!!

Any use module replacement is a risk with not exception. The choice is yours to take said risk. My advise is to drive the hell out of it if you don't run into problems right away. Like 50-100 miles if you want to feel confident. The HPCM is the only module I'd personally even consider this with. On the hybrid/ev side though I also don't use pre-use modules unless it's from the dealer or a…

I've worked on my fair share of Gen 1 Volts. I was able to install and program a used Battery Energy Control Module with SPS. The BECM is part of the high voltage battery, essentially the front assembly that houses the contactors, battery coolant heater and where the coolant lines and electrical connectors enter the pack. What module exactly are you trying to replace? Hybrid Control Module 1…

That pack looks very similar to the ones I am used to….must be LG Chem?

Yes, I'm pretty sure LG made the packs. Do they make them for Volvo as well?

I have changed the drive motor inverter with a used unit and it went well. I bit of a pain programming, but I think that was more me than the vehicle itself. But as previously noted, HCM 2 is NOT in the inverter assembly, but under the right front seat. HCM 1 is in the inverter.

We are replacing the hybrid control module 2. I do not want to create any other problems by installing a used unit. The issue with the vehicle is it will start and die immediately. The engine disabled light comes on. Codes are p0ab9 and p0ac4. Any help appreciated!

Looking at the code description, P0AB9 is looking at the CKP for engine speed and when the expected speed is not reached it sets the code, see attached. The P0AC4 is just indicating that HCM2 wants the MIL on. Sounds like you have some type of engine problem. The engine is not running and stalling, just cranking. There is no 12-volt starter. The engine is cranked by one of the high voltage…

Rob. Try it if you're feeling lucky! If you've never programmed a Volt, you're in for a treat! However, I'd focus on the DTCs first. Ignore any MIL request related DTC P0AC4. The ECM is basically instructed to turn on the MIL and the HPCM2 is the “boss” and is just doing its job by requesting the ECM to illuminate the MIL, as Matt already alluded. That is SOP when faults occur requiring MIL…

Hello DN, we found the issue with this vehicle. The problem was an engine issue as Matt and Martin suggested. the engine was starting and shutting off after a few seconds running. it never set a code p160e. what we found was the engine cover was applying pressure to the ignition cassette wiring shorting the ignition. it would not set a code. we repaired the wiring and wrapped it with flex…

Good job Rob. It's easy to get caught up in the belief that faults are all high tech! Thanks for posting the fix. You might want to update the post to “Resolved” for the archives. Thanks.
