Battery maintainer
I am just getting started to do some programing and was wonder what batterie maintainers are recommended? It would be for domestic cars maybe some aisan, no euro stuff. We use to call a mobile guy in and he never used one at all but i am reading everywhere that it is important. We only do about 10-20 flashes a year so i am not looking for the top off the line deluxe model, just something that works good. Thanks
This one has served me well for 2 years now. I tinned my cable ends as they did not want to stay in the terminals otherwise. ebay.com/itm/New-PowerM…
We use this one as well! Very nice unit! Wouldn't program without it!
Hi David I'm with PowerMax, we recommend the 100 Amp for use with any Diagnostic Tool for ideal battery Maintainance. You can use the following promo code DIAGNET15 to get 15% off on the PMBC Series. Hope this helps!
I would suggest checking out a company that I use for all of this type of equipment. AES Wave
I use the Drew Tech maintainer is a great product for the price.
When I was still at the dealership I used this never had a issue programming a FCA vehicle using it, but often times wouldn't use it unless voltage. mactools.com/products/mt634…
Just make sure it can do AGM and EFB batteries so you don’t fry them or cook them on the inside so much they are no good anymore. Not that I love Snap On but I believe they have a decent one that you can get a demo of before you buy. Dealers mostly use the ridiculous expensive DCA-8000 for all sorts from Midtronics.
power max ebay, might be knock off but has worked great for me, i also have a $1K Mac Smart Charger that is very stupid. The Mac unit has about as much juice as a battery tender.
Good point about the ebay listing…. We had purchased ours directly from Powermax in Florida. powermaxconverters.com/product/pmbc-1…
Micheal thank s for the great comments about our Charger Maintainers! We're doing a promo for users to save 15% off on the PMBC Series, just use code ‘DIAGNET15’ when checking out on our website! PowerMaxConveters.com
This will work great and is very low cost. It's only 30A, but you're not really going to need more during programming. The power output is very clean. You'll need to make your own cables, but for $150, you can't beat it. They also make higher output models if you're so inclined. amazon.com/IOTA-Engineeri…
I've been using this one's big brother, the DLS90IQ. for around 5+ years. It's 90amp and cost about $175 at the time. I have used it on BMW, MB and all domestics/Asian
I use an Iota DLS-55. It works on lead, AGM, spiral, etc. It works perfectly.
Out of stock, but this is the best deal I've seen ($136.56): solar-electric.com/iota-engineeri…
I‘ve used a 30A Iota for years. It’s not expensive and has no “features” but it works well. I will say that I don’t use it at every flashing event. If the battery SOC is good and the flash is the sort that goes quickly, I don’t bother using it.
We use the Midtronics and have for many years. No problems with this unit.
Thanks guys for all the replies. I went with a IOTA 30 Amp, programed a TCM on a Chevy today and everything went smooth.
I like the carrying case, mine is kind of all over the place
