Chemical treatment options for cars

Hello everyone, I am trying to get better acquainted with servicing vehicles with chemical treatment. This is a topic I know very little about so I would appreciate if someone would refer me to a source to read on my own. Or perhaps experience they have. I do not have any vehicles with trouble now but I am looking to generate revenue. I feel with the choices I might make a wrong move. To narrow down what I am asking. Petrol engines both indirect and direct injection is my focus. I would like to know what type of fuel service has worked for you guys. I know machines exist that cycle solution through the fuel system. Is this smart or might I cause a headache ? Also intake cleaning products that are reliable. I have read the sales stuff for motorvac and ats and run rite. It all looks good. I mean more expensive machines offer more options, but I was wondering if someone had a setup they use and really like the results. Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

Joe I run a shop in NY and have good success using the Automotive Test Solutions (ATS) 3C machine. We were having problems cleaning GDI until we started using the 3C machine. It kicks ass and really cleans up the carbon build up without tearing anything apart. I am really impressed with the speed, easy usage, results and cost. It has fixed driveability problems saving our customers money and…

I was leaning towards the ATS machine mainly because of the documentation case studies. It really impressed me at first glance and the results backed it up. Thanks G for the advice.

Joe We have used all the major brands chemicals for induction cleaning over the years. These have not worked well for us on GDI engines. We purchased the ATS 3C machine about a year ago in hope it would reduce the amount of time for intake cleaning with walnut shells. It not only reduced the walnut blasting but this machine actually works. We borescope the intake before and after cleaning and…

I too will jump on board with the ATS 3C machine and their oil and fuel treatment chemicals. We work on mostly European vehicles many with GDI fuel delivery and the associated carboning of the intake runners and valves. 3C just works. All carbon related drivability problems have been resolved using this system. If cleaning with the 3C doesn't resolve the drivability issue odds on the problem…

David thank you for your reply. I too looked at most of these additives skeptically. I am very glad to hear you had success not only on shop cars but also your own vehicle. This is a terrific website to find real world solutions to every day questions.

Maybe just old habit but we have used BG over the years and have had good results. I think most the chemicals are about the same with the well known companies but BG is a long standing and they give warranties if you consistently use there product on a customers vehicle. That being said, its a good selling point to your customer knowing they will cover the fuel system if fuel services are done…
