Transit Connect programming

2011 Ford Transit Connect XL 2.0L (N) 4-spd (4F27E)

Have not had the pleasure of programming these yet. From what I've seen, I need to have a VIN for the truck in the IDS before it will attempt to program. Customer wants used PCM which is usually no problem, but I've seen a couple of videos online (real techs mind you, not open forums), that suggest it is difficult to do this on a Transit.

Original PCM was DOA, so no PMI is doable.

Is it possible to just leave key off until it asks for a VIN?

Or, is it fairly straightforward, as it is on other trucks?

Unplug your new pcm and when ids tries to communicate you will have the “blank pcm” option. Then manually enter vin. Then do a pmi And use tear tag off old one or part number. Follow the steps and plug it back in right before prompted to turn key on. Then if all goes good program your keys. sometimes you have to try it a few times to make sure you plug pcm Back in cause if it’s done too early…

Doesn't need the keys done on this, just the parameter Reset option. I was basically going to do the key off process and do what you suggested. My concern, is that the Transits are a bit different when it comes to used PCMs.

These early ones should be fine, I have issues sometimes with the newer full size transits, but this shouldn't fight you.

That year is pretty much same straight forward process as any ford. If any issue just use special code and done

Just follow PMI procedure in ids, it will ask you for vin nr, just change it to correct one, it will download calibration for that vin, later it will ask you to perform as build data programming, then go to security and perform parameter reset,

It was pretty much like any other flash on a Ford of this vintage (2011). PMI install was what got me there. No red flags at all. Took 20 minutes, including the Parameter Rest. Lucky for the client, it runs. He bought it at the auction not running, so he is happy as clam….
