Programming new BCM
We’re replacing BCM due to intermittently turning ignition on and off when locked up and key far from vehicle. We got a new blank BCM from dealer and are attempting to program but Honda’s program does not detect a virgin BCM and will not carry out programming of the unit. Also, when I try to turn ignition on, nothing happens. Cluster remains blank and I may see the message “To start, hold remote near Start button” which I do but ignition does not turn on. I am able to turn ignition on with scanner on the function for BCM replacement but still no start, no crank. Anyone knows what I am missing?
Looks like you should be able to just run the Immobilizer setup tool in HDS and verify operation afterwards, doesn't appear to need any other programming, You will more than likely need a NASTF LSID to use the immobilizer setup tool in HDS unless another option is available to you
This. Honda modules tend to come programmed and just need set up functions preformed with scan tool. Autel may be able to do immo set up
It’s not blank. It doesn’t need programming. You just have to go into immobilizer and run the set up. It will force the ignition on allowing you to program the keys. The autel im608 will do it.
Mine won’t. Unless they fixed it with the last software update. The first time I got a call to do one of these it would not turn the ignition on therefore failing to program the keys. I didn’t think it would help but I borrowed a friends 608 and just like magic it turned the ignition on and completed the job. 🤷
I was successful doing one about a month ago with the IM508.
Finally! Like most of you said, the BCM comes preprogramed and only needs to be configured to vehicle. I used the Autel IM608 to perform the setup. When I turned on ignition following scanner guide, I was not able to turn it back on. So my partner connected the Snap On Zeus and he ran into the same situation. So, he did not turn key off after ignition was on. Instead, he went back to “all keys…
