Bmw Programming
hey all, I'm wondering if anyone has ever run into this issue in ista. i've tries numerous uninstall/reinstall and also uninstalled all the software on this computer. i am using a cardaq m for an interface and it has been setup in ptd.
I am no expert on programming but that error message is in reference to no interface to connect to. I am going to go out on a limb and say that the issue is probably the Cardaq M. You will more than likely need an ICOM to complete that job.
Caleb is correct in that ISTA is not seeing an interface... as a default, the initial install for ISTA/D is always defaulted to an ICOM interface. Since you are using a Cardaq M (i have used this as well... and YES it does work.) you first need to set which VCI you will be using... do so by going to the "wrench" icon on the top right of the main window, then the tab for VCI, there you'll see…
You can‘t do programming plans thru ista without an icom last time I checked, you had to use ISTA P if you were using a passthru device.
Yes, you can use a J2534 device to program, but it is not recommended. BMW split the software up maybe a year ago. ISTA/D no longer exists. ISTA does all diag and programming for F and G chassis. ISTA/P does programming only for E chassis.
Ah I did it know they did that. Thanks for the info!
ISTA/P actually still does some F series programming. You can actually program a F01 to a lower i-Level than ISTA. Mind blown?
My mind IS blown. What scenario would prompt programming F chassis with /P these days?
It won't allow with 3gIO however dealer systems allow it for some reason when 3GIO user pull it up says must use ISTA D
Thanks for the replies so far, I've set the Interface to j2534 under the wrench symbol. I have used ista for programming with my cardaq in the past. This is however a new computer (I've given up on windows 7). Certainly wish some things could be more straightforward....
Send an email to the tech support. I’ve used them many times and they are usually very helpful.
I emailed support this morning, they got back to me surprisingly quick. they have suggested i try to use a ethernet to obd2 cable. Has anyone ever used this cable, i've ordered it and now i get to wait.
