We have had the Edge for 3 years. A colossal waste of money for us. Huge expense in the first place and very expensive to maintain with subscription/updates. Updates have to be done or you loose access to several features, like reset procedures. The windows are very small with tiny script. The range of the dongle is farcical, maybe 10 feet? The battery life is good and the scope works well. Our…

We have the "Modis" Edge(not sure what the differences are) and multiple other scan tools including the Autel and the Edge is Definitely faster boot up, and if you are using it in conjunction with Mitchell (Snap-on) it can be a very powerful diagnostic tool with wiring in the guided test portion. As far as using it as a lab scope PICO Scope is the best!

The Modis Edge has a 2 - Channel Scope, the Verus has a 4 - Channel Scope. There may be other differences, but those are the main ones.

Dave, I'm not sure what you mean by "the windows are very small with tiny script". Maybe display settings are not correct? I also get much more than 10 feet of connectivity with my dongle. I wonder if there is something wrong with your unit. My experience seems to be far better than what you posted.

Hello David, I am sorry to here about your experience with your Snap On Verus. Yes the updates are expensive. Here in the States, Snap On offers a subscription to their updates, and paying monthly for the updates costs me less money than paying full price for them when they become available. Plus, you can download the updates to your Verus yourself through Snap On’s Shopstream program. Maybe…

David- Who made the decision to buy the Edge?

It was I, very much to my later dismay. Our dealer was badgering me to purchase it for many months, it came on sale and he pushed again and I fell in. LOL. It being windows based means you have to boot it up and then go to whatever program section you are using. So the time to get going was about twice as long as the Autel tablet I purchased two years before. We found its range to be 1/2 the…

Im curious, are you the main diagnostic person in your shop? I am in the shop I work for. The shop owner would not purchase any diagnostic equipment with out input from me. Even though he has 30 years experience,it is I who is in the bays day in and day out doing the diagnostic work. Im very well versed in what most scan tools can and cannot do. As a diag tech, I spend countless hours…

Hi Rudy, there are two of us, myself and one other (the engineer) to do that stuff here. I like to believe we are both open minded and more interested in substantiated facts than feelings. Probably our like of the Autel MaxiSys has been even more developed over the last year or two. They are so much quicker to support new vehicles than SO. That is an issue for us as we do some work for a body…

Dominick, I have had mine for over a year now and I like it. I would never pay list price for a new one so if you can get a deal on a used one, go for it. That's what I did. I like how it's cloud based so when you do an all module scan the report gets uploaded automatically to your account. Snapshots too. When I need to graph data that is my goto scanner. I have an autel and other scanners but…

I have the verus pro and modis edge as well as a launch and an autel. The shop has an autel, Bosch, autologic, and 3 modis. I love both my snap on, (mine was a trade in as well) way cheaper. And I was always under the impression snap on sucks on euro, but I had a mini awhile ago and used the autologic and my snap on, and my small on had all the same test, and data blocks. So at least mini it was…

I had a verus edge for a long time, I think it is an all around good/useful tool. It has a lot of good features and information in it, and a capable scope for most things. Obviously pico makes a better scope and you will be disappointed on coverage at times. If you get a really good price on it then it’s worth it IMHO. I hope it works out for you.

My shop traded in their pristine Verus Edge for a Zeus and I immediately bought the Edge. I like it. I also have the dock and keep in a dedicated tool cart with a monitor on it. These days I pretty much just use it for the scope functions and don't care, I still like it. Big secret is that it is a Zeus with a different case and without the "intelligent" diagnostics. It works with a Zeus smaller…

I have the verus and its been a good piece of equipment it may not be the best scope but it works great but its the volumes of information that is in it if your not familiar with it go to the snap on web sight there are free training on it, when my dealer would have a shop who couldn't work it right he would have me go over and help them 99% never went to free info and there is so much it can do…
