U0422 — Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module

Hello, 2021 Ford Ranger with 2.3L. Tire size has been updated to a larger tire. I can use ForScan to update the tire circumference in the BCM using ForScan BCM Configuration or BCM as built data. However, once I do this a U0422 (invalid data received from BCM) code is stored in the PCM. I can relearn vehicle data but the code will not go away. I also believe the relearn data is only for a P160A, in which I do not have. Has anyone ran into these issues or does it even matter that there is a U0422 code? I want to make sure the transmission shift points are correct with the new tires and no negative effects will be exposed from these changes.

Thank you,

Brian

Did you save your stock configuration to a file so you could revert back to the original? Did you try loading “factory as-built” data? It sounds like something got corrupted so I would try to get back to stock first and see if the code goes away.

The pcm does not recognize that size as valid. Back it off until it does. Relearn data states its also for when you change tire size, axle ratio ect. So I'd run it.

That will only clear the P160A

Thanks everyone for the information. I ended up putting back in the original tires into the PCM. Eventually I may have to use HP Tuners or something to change the max size. Thanks again, Brian
