Ford IDS 118.03 update

This is the message we received from Ford Diagnostics Team this morning. 

Good Morning Donny – yes, last night we just released the fix for the aftermarket log-on issues we were having both on the IDS and FJDS software. There were several issues found both on the tool software and backend servers so took some time resolving and testing. We utilized Joey Hendrich from aetools during our testing process to verify our fixes were being seen in the field. 

IDS and FJDS release 118.03 contain the log-on fixes. These were posted to the field last night. 

I also wanted to thank you for your help obtaining the NASTF credentials for one of my authors to test with. I have attached an e-mail I received on this topic which expresses the courteous help we received from your group. Thanks again

I will post an update on recommended update methods as soon as I receive it. For those who are not IT experts and do not know how to edit Windows registry.

Thanks for the update Donny!! We will hope for the best with 118.03..... Many of us here have lost significant time and money with the malfunctioning software and continued issues :(

As promised. Update on the 118.03 download and recommended install practices. As of 3:30PM EDT, both scan tool downloads can be found here: motorcraftservice​.​com/diagnostic/Sup… According to Ford’s Diagnostic’s team, the best method to insure that the tool works properly is to completely remove IDS/FJDS, Restart the machine and then install 118 full followed by the 118.03 update.

Donny, Thank you for the update. I have to say its long overdue. I have heard this song before and I will hang on to v​.​117​.​xx for as long as I can. Too much wasted time and the bitterness is still fresh. I am sure you understand. What of the "Testman Error" issues that are rampant? All I am seeing is this rectifies log in issues.

I remember when testman errors were only IDS/FJDS software issues. I have experienced several Testman errors in the last year or two that were resolved by removing aftermarket equipment on the network. I used to think the 0x0 type of faults were related to the vehicle but have had several that the vehicle caused testman errors. I know that is not a solution for most of the testman faults, but…

Chris, I agree and experienced it firsthand with aftermarket equipment. Although that was not the Testman Errors I was referring to as you well know. Funny thing is over the years I have had a handful of error OxO faults while programming. Calls to Rotunda to clarify what these codes were fell on deaf ears. I was told they don't know. I haven't had any ford programming events for awhile until today so I uninstalled all the old ford software and started from scratch with FJDS 118A Full and then did the 118.03 Update. After that I connected to a 2008 Ford Focus with a used PCM in it and Code P0605 Internal ROM error. Thought i'd ask if anyone has had issue's with the latest 118.03. I wasn't able to communicate with any vehicle this morning which was the first time i had used it since i updated it. I didn't have time to reach out to tech support or do a SIR so i just uninstalled and reinstalled 117.01. In my message above I used it on a 2008 Focus with no problem. I have it loaded on a win 10 laptop using a cardaq+2 from AE Tools.

Brian, We used it to program a 2013 F-150 Coyote in a hot rod Bronco last week and got a really...... long opening splash screen. It did finally come online and work. Best Donny

Donny, When beta testing was done were there complaints of long opening splash screen? How long is long? I am still holding on to v​.​117​.​xx until the bitter end. LOL Did you inquire with the Ford team about the "Testman Errors" that have seem to pop up more frequently since this whole debacle started last summer?

Donny, maybe i should have gave it more time but i would have figured it wouldn't be any slower than IDS is normally. But what mine was doing was just taking me back to the main screen! And again, it might had been on my end too. But after installing 117 it was working normally. If i get a chance ill reload it and test it out again. If it does it again ill do a SIR. Thanks

I've had those issues on multiple versions of FJDS/IDS at least since 110. The total number of installs probably lets me see this as a common fault. If not resolved with a reboot (fixes it about 1/2 the time), recommend uninstall and reinstall sometimes the install can be corrupted.

118.06 has been stable as long as it was installed from 118.01A (revised version to fix pats/LSID issues) I have not run 119.01 yet. There are alot of weird idiosyncrasies to Ford programming. I have intermittently had transmission solenoids not transfer from the original PCM when performing a PMI from the original module. There is no interface to the user for the steps taken by the software, so…
