Ids

Jimmy Technician New Mexico Posted   Latest

I have come across a VCM 2 that I going to buy, but I am little confused about where I should get IDS and if there are different versions or not. I would like to have the full IDS like I had a the dealer but not sure if I can buy that. Also, can I get PTS is there a package deal? I may have to buy this as I can afford it, but I would eventually Like to have full functioning Ford tool as my small town no longer has a Ford dealer.

You can download the software for free right from the motorcraft site. The licensing varies, depending upon the length of the desired term. Day passes are available fairly inexpensively, all the way up to an annual subscription for around $850.

You might check with ae tools, if you buy the vcm 2 from them you get lifetime support. I think you can buy the ford subscription from them but you need to check if it comes with support, but it is slightly higher than directly from ford. You will need a nastf locksmith license to program anything newer than a 2014 that needs keys programmed or a parameter reset. The only thing you cannot do…

It's the other way around: FDRS is part of the IDS software, which you'll need for anything older than around 2016 and up. It comes as a download available with an active sub from Ford. The need for FDRS varies by Y/Model.
