28A0 bmw
customer came in with a check engine light on. scan the vehicle and found code 28A0 but the vehicle runs completely fine. smoke tested and checked crankcase pressure all fine. Has anyone seen this issue
BMW has a bulletin. SI B11 09 19 Check it and there may be an answer.
Did you look up the code and follow the code setting criteria?
I agree with Obie's reply. Also, when I look up a 2012 BMW X5 M, it does not list the 3.0L (N55), so maybe post the VIN or make sure you entered the correct vehicle.
Good morning Justin, found the tsb and performed the relearn. Problem gone thank you.
service bulletin 11 09 19 describes the special quick adapt to get rid of this issue. But it only works if you have 0 intake/crankcase leaks. (that inlcudes rear and front main and VCG) CCV pressure is in spec, and that the map sensors are operating correctly. If after 3 attemps at the bulletin its still setting you can bet there is a mechanical issue in the engine.
