New Honda Pcm-Requires Programming?
Hello fellow techs. I got called to program new pcm in this 21 honda crv. Before I setup a hard drive with honda hds I was wondering if it took flashing?
I read procedures and it said write vin, immobilizer and check for updates so not sure if it requires programming. Thanks, gery
There are no flash file for the PCM, just write the vin, immobilizer, and you should be set with the part. You can check for updates in the TCM after replacement of ECM, it may also require to write the ID characterization of the TCM in to the PCM.
You will need access to LSID/NASTF credentials for the immo setup.
“Checking for updates”, means checking for new SW with iHDS. All engine control modules are updateable. The new module may come with the latest calibration, but I would still check. You can do that with iHDS or I just recently learned that you can pull the calibration number and look it up using the Honda SI site to see if it is the latest.
