Parking assist
Morning I have this nx300 that the body shop replace one of the rear parking aid sensor and every time I try to do the intuitive pa detection/steering adjustment it keeps showing lost of communication with the vehicle. I have tried with launch, autel and even tech stream with j2534 autel box. Any suggestion?
I’m not in front of the computer to look it up but if I recall you have to go into intuitive park assist and initialize the sensor. It should ask you if it was a front or rear that was replaced. If that’s what you are trying to do then I apologize but I was a little confused by your comment about steering adjustment.
Yes, always start with initialization. The system does weird things when you don't initialize. After that, you should be all set.
The sonar sensor angle initialization first.
I believe There is a procedure called “Ultrasonic Sensor Angle registration” that needs to be performed. The communication faults Indicate that this procedure is required provided that all the harness and connections are good. You have to use digital angle finder to measure individual sensor angles and register them in the module.
Hello, Yes if you're attempting to do an adjustment (initialization) and it says no communication (while running the function), then it means they are not communicating for some reason. You'll have to check the wiring/sensors with the bumper off. I usually use a scope to do that.
Every time it’s failed on me it’s always been a damaged wire. It’s basically three wires wired in series. I always start from the beginning of the circuit one power one ground and one signal wire continue down the line until you find which one is missing. I’ve also seen where the harness is reversed it’s easily noticeable on one side do you have a gray connectors and on the other they are black
But you'd have comm codes (thank you for correcting me) if there was a wiring issue. That being said, these harnesses are delicate and I've seen plenty come back from body shop with broken wires, usually right at the connector.
I’ve never seen a circuit code on the intelligent sensors. I’ve ALWAYS seen no communication code when there has been a damaged wire. Never a circuit code
yeah you're right. I misspoke. I meant comm codes.
Was going to say this as well. I have had several do this and usually damaged harness or sensor. The codes that stay permanently in the module will not chang so diagnosing by following the codes isn't much help.
Found the problem body shop had switched the sensors around
sensors are all interchangeable, initialization registers them in their actual positions. I've had several where the right rear outer sensor was detecting an object when it was actually the left rear outer approaching something. initialization of the sensor angles restored proper operation in those instances. i've even had malfunction codes reference the wrong sensor for someone not performing…
