Fords New TECHPRO software
Ford has new software called TECHPRO for “All makes diagnostic software” (BUT NOT FOR FORD) used with your VCM hardware for $600 for a year sub.
I have used at as a standalone software through Mahle The Selftest was pretty quick for all module scans but at the time I think not all car lines had great coverage. Haven't used it through Ford though, but the VCM2 is J2534 so I could see how they would link it to the VCM2. They marketed this for dealers last year. mahletechpro.com
I can see Used Car managers everywhere telling the Tech but I know you can scan it so why cant you fix this ten year old Range Rover I took in on trade sight unseen.
Stacey, I have to say I really appreciate your humor this morning! It gave me an involuntary chuckle as I listen to the voice of experience! You wouldn't believe how many techs I try to help working in fleets and in dealer used car departments trying to fix stuff with no proper diagnostic tooling… or on second thought, maybe you would!
The good thing about batting clean up for a lot of dealers it does help build good relationships. It has helped me borrow special tools etc at times .
Kevin, In my opinion Ford should concentrate on the constant issues with IDS and FDRS instead of marketing all makes software. Agree?
They just slapped their marque on another company's product. I doubt they will be involved in support or design.
Tony, I agree. But the logistics is that it still took and takes manpower to do what they are doing. Given that IDS has not been right for almost two years and the fact that they denied there were issues really frosts my butt. Sorry, this just hits a sore spot.
I seen that last year when I went renew my subscription. I called rotunda on it and she explained it to me as a complementary toil for the ford tech and the independent.i told her no thanks. I got to many tools at the moment. John you are correct with ford. They should focus on their IDS and FDRS issues before tackling a generic tool.
I agree every other version of IDS is a crap shoot these days. They must have changed contractors at version 114.
It is just Mahle Techpro. GM has access to it as well, due to our MDI2 and the VCM3 being virtually identical. gm-techlink.com/?p=12340
For all those interested this is the mahle tech pro software minus Ford. The idea behind it was to give Ford dealers and option to have a scan tool for other makes.
I remember the huge ad campaign, a couple years ago, for that Mahle scan tool, then nobody got one, and the ads stopped. At least they found a buyer.
That's interesting. Anyone know if it would work with the other J2534 devices? I have a Cardaq Plus 3 and could potentially see some uses for it. I would think at the very least, the Mastertech 2 would work because it seems to be the same as the MDI 2 & VCM 3. Just one fellow's half cocked opinion though.
