Thanks for the heads up.I was looking to purchase it in the near future. Seems as if these companys Autel and Launch which I am most familiar with won't support after they discontinue an item and you spent all this money and becomes useless after a couple of years. Any suggestions since I got burned once like this by Launch and I can't afford to do it with Autel. I've been looking also at…

Any scan tool you buy will eventually run its course and either become outdated or run out of storage. People have made the same statements you have made, but about Snap On, and others. There’s no way to predict what will happen.

I agree with you on that but with the Launch purchased 5 years ago with 3 years of updates included in the package was discontinued a year after buying it I went to update it and they no longer supported it and offered no more updates. Last month I purchased the iscan elite by Autoland Scientech through a repetible dealer and couldn't even run it because the software was no longer available…

I'm sorry the e-iscan. I have checked out so many that I goofed. The reason I originally bought because it would work with my tablet which would have saved me several hundred dollars by supplying my own. Last time I checked , it still in their catalog and still being sold. I'm telling you this was just in June that I purchased it. I got my money back but the point is I was spanked twice with…

Stuart- Thats a bummer. I was looking into that e-Iscan too, Seemed like a good alternative to the full fledge scanner. I have not used the Topdon, but I am in a Facebook group (Automotive Scan Tools) with some sharp individuals and they swear by this tool. Everyone that has bought that tool has nothin but good things to say about it. There were 2 dealers in our group offering free lifetime…

That is why I bought it. It had the bells and whisles that I was looking for at a very reasonable price. I had to send it back because I couldn't get the software to operate it. You can't trust a company like that.

Stuart, I have a Think Tool Pro, it's a launch clone, is great with graphing, awesome coverage for what it is. Plus they are making lots of add on stuff. Also a Bosch ADS525X, horrible graphing, but tons of bidirectional controls, plus it's open source as are a couple of other tools that allow you to build the tool into what you want it to be. Mine is a scope, multimeter, inspection cameras, yes…

Think Tool Pro, a launch clone with much better graphing! That would be great. The Launch graphing sucks! How much do they sell that for Craig?

Doug, I believe that you can find that unit for around $850 to $1000. Plus free updates for 2-years.

Purchased it $900 Amazon. I'm especially interested to see how different its graphing features are. I am currently using the Launch X431.

I’ve had my eye on the Thinkcar pro. Recently realized the thinkcar pro looks exactly like the Phoenix plus, but just a different color. I‘ll link both here walmart.com/ip/TOPDON-Car….ds amazon.com/thinkcar-THINK… But if you go to the thinktool store they have lots of options here thinkcarus.com/collections/pr…

Autel has not announced a stop date. They have told me on several occasions (including today) that discontinued MaxiSys units will continue to receive updates because the new units use the same "core" diagnostic software as the old units. For example, the ms905 was discontinued in 2017, it can still be updated today. Of course they could always change their mind.

I believe the only device they stopped offering updates to is the MaxiDas. You can only update it up to 2020. this must be a case where they are just discontinuing the sale of new Elites. They got so many different ones now I can’t keep up 😂. I have the Maxisys pro 908 that is over a year since I updated. I’m afraid to update it because I heard the new update takes away immo key programming, But…

Purchased my Elite 18 months ago. If they suddenly stopped supporting it, it would be my last Autel purchase for sure.

Just bought one in Feb knowing it would be discontinued. They claim they will support updates for 2 yrs. For what I paid, and considering the average lifetime of a tool, support, updates, etc, I'm pretty happy so far. Have had very few issues with functionality, and work on mostly late model (17 & up) body shop & glass repairs & calibrations. Same platform as many other tools so…

Hi everyone, I guess I will add my $10.00 I once bought auction box lot which had a alltest scantool which was for 1980's vehicles, it could do a little once you knew how to use, I have a bosch fuel injection tester that is for 70's units in my son's 1974 volvo e164 which used the d jetronic fuel system which is full authority injection with o2 sensor, the scantools are constantly evolving and I…

Getting one on a closeout deal seems a good time to me if your looking to save money. It will be supported for a long time. Most likely the software is the same on this and newer units and they are just dumping the tablet the elites used. No reason to change tablet/looks and still call it the elite.

Why not just buy the newer series? Of course manufacturers are always going to upgrade their units. How many different Solus' have there been from Snap On? Only looking at a $500 difference between the Elite and the MS909.

Hi Dennis, I think many are missing the point. The actual tool (the physical box) will be discontinued for new production. The current updates and subscriptions for new updates will continue in the future. Existing owners will continue as usual. Like any other scanner, eventually vehicle technology will exceed it's useable capability. No one knows the future. So far, to date Autel has been a…

So has anyone notices their Elite running super slow after all these recent updates the last 6 months? Probably the reason for the discontinuation is the Elite can't hold all the additional info, especially if you do ADAS like me. Note to jump off topic, but I can't get me Elite to backup. I follow the instruction to the “t” with external usb drive but it fails every time. If anyone can help…

I have been having errors with my Elite after all the recent updates to include multiple languages and other ADAS setups. I think they have overloaded the Elite memory and processor.

Could be something as simple as memory management issues. I know when programming apple products you are encouraged to set memory devices to null once you are finished with them. Memory leaks will bring electronics to their knees.
