Programming push to start cars
I have a question about programming push to start vehicles. We are replacing the tcm in this caddy and it’s push to start. What is the correct way to keep the vehicle from not Turing off while programming? When I would scan the car it would shut off and I would have to hit the push button over and over. thank you for the help
Hold button down for min of 7 seconds. It will key on and stay on.
In addition to what you said, the push button indicator will go from amber to green to confirm you are in ignition on mode.
Keep the pushbutton depressed until it changes as stated above. It can take 10 seconds or more. Sorry someone already answered it. It always worry's me as I had one shut off during programming when first started doing them.
Plus one on above comments also heard leaving driver door open.
I suggest you get pay for a short term subscription for Service Info. Usually everything is explained in detail there. It will tell you if you need to start the programming session with the key On or Key Off which is very important too.
Some good tips here, particularly regarding the Control Module References chart. This chart can be found in aftermarket service information as well as in GM Service Information. Late-model GM vehicles that use the Vehicle Intelligence Platform can set the correct Power Mode automatically during programming.
