Hello Everyone,

I have a client that would like to purchase a used Intelligent Servo Module (ISM). From my understanding, this module needs to be renewed / virginized before it can be programmed / adapted to a vehicle.

I looked up IM608 support and the site says that this function is partially supported. Not sure what they mean by partially. Does anyone have any experience with these? Is IM608 capable or is there an eeprom option?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Specialized equipment exists to virginize ISM modules, best done if old and new units are available. That way the coding data can be transferred from old to new. TRP Part ! If that is not possible, meaning the old unit can not be read out, the donor piece still can be virginized, and with the help of a Xentry/DAS machine new data can be entered. "Partial reset" Minimum requirement however…

I have used my im608 to renew isms a few times. If you go with a used one make sure is same number as original or a updated compatible unit. i would be able to renew the module if you send it to me.

Thanks for the info. I have Autel 919 as well which claims to do MB programming. Not sure how capable it is. Also have LSID. So basically I can potentially do the renew with my IM608 and transfer coding data from old to used donor w my 919? I see other tools can do this job like the VVDI MB and AVDI which I both don't own. Also came across this tool which looks affordable but not sure how…

I use the Autel Maxisys for these and it has worked well. Not sure what the 919 is, sorry… You are right that you have to virginize a used module before you can program it into the car. When you personalize the module into the car, it writes all the DAS info to the module, but the car still won't start, you have to sync the ISM to the conductor plate that is inside the trans.. The Maxisys did…

A cheap option that will do all three versions of the ISM is Yanhua ACDP. You can purchase everything individually as needed. Starts with $180 for the main unit and the ISM liscence with cable $79 ,no soldering and does MB ecm's and ism's. Here is a good link with pics blog.uobdii.com/yanhua-mini-ac…

If you really want to go with a used one, then make sure you get part number … That is the latest part number for all vehicles with shift by wire, equipped with FBS3 systems. Once virginized, make sure you get the latest/correct programming file for your chassis. Once programmed, it only needs to be personalized and calibrated. This module is not SCN coded. Now, I would highly…

Thanks everyone for your input. Client decided to purchase from a wrecker online that has someone renew their ISMs. He will then get Mercedes Dealer to program the unit as they are the ones doing the work. He said that he will lend me his old one to tinker with. I'll try to bench with IM608 and see if it will renew the ISM. I'll post my results. Thanks again!
