For the 3rd time in a year, Mercedes has changed their requirements for TRP ordering. It took 23 days from time of order and 6 emails for someone to figure out that the order was being refused by corporate due to missing information. They have escalated their TRP Documentation Matrix to includes items that are impractical and some impossible. Things like a copy of approved D1 form from NASTF, quick test printout showing failed part, etc. It clearly appears to be an attempt to make it impossible for the aftermarket to obtain these parts. However, items such as the transmission conductor, which is a TRP item, can be circumvented by buying the entire transmission. That item doesn't require TRP. Clearly and example of where money can buy you an exemption. I've attached a copy of their Matrix.
Mercedes moves the goal post every time we get close to the goal line. This is really getting ridiculous.
I called last month for 722.9 for 164 Ml, dealer said probably 6 months “back order”.
NASTF has alerted the OEM. In the meantime, please reach out to the NASTF support desk as they are familiar with this particular issue. Email: …: …
NASTF received the following response from the automaker: The concern with the transmission is something MB ran into last week. The rationale behind this is what is currently documented in the Global policy section 5.1.1 being that the conductor plate is defined as a part that “are required to steal a vehicle and/or to give a vehicle a new identity” which is why only VSP’s are permitted to…
Mercedes response is a generic response. I'm not sure who's misinterpreting the problem. I wasn't questioning the rational of the conductor plate being included in the TRP program. The issue is Mercedes making continuing changes in the required paperwork and the length of time to acquire the parts. My original parts order with TRP approval was placed on January 2nd 2023. It is currently…
When you submitted the D1 online, did you get a TRP Authorization response in your email from Mercedes Benz??? If you received one, they should have received one, too. It goes to the parts manager's email. I am constantly ordering TRP parts, never had an issue. I placed 2 orders for conductor plates on Wednesday after 5pm and received the parts Friday by noon.
The TRP comes from NASTF, not Mercedes. And yes, all paperwork was submitted to my local dealer on Jan 2nd. My objective here, if anyone from NASTF is monitoring and paying attention, is whether or not this is a corporate issue or a single dealer issue, this goes against the policies that have been put in place and something needs to be done. It's clearly an “attempt to discourage the indy shop…
My dealer said the parts manager that has the password for that email does not work there anymore….
Now, that's BS. Because they can reset the password anytime they want or updated for the new manager. Actually, IT department handles all that. They tell me that, I just go look for another dealership.
I ordered a fully integrated transmission control unit (say that 3 times fast) for a GLA dual clutch, and it arrived in 7 business days. This was mid January 2023. As mentioned, some parts are on back order. But if you have the appropriate credentials, with VSP, you shouldn’t have any problems. MB hasn’t really changed requirements. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, the requirements are universal…
