Hi Randy. It seems that a one hour program which mentions $0A in the details would only cover the permanent DTC topic. Do you know if UDS is being displayed by any aftermarket scantools yet? I am a dinosaur who works on dinosaurs so I don't expect to see it soon. GM and others have done something similar in terms of reporting codes with a subcode for some time but I suspect these are not…
UDS has been used for over a decade and with aftermarket tools. I am no expert by any means and why I would like to take classes on it but a telltale of UDS is 3 byte DTCs (you said sub code). We have had those for some time. Legislated UDS for OBD is coming in a couple years and the J1979.2 should be ready soon which will define the UDS standard for OBD.
