Fobik programming issue
We recently had a Ram 1500 in for a key fobik issue. We got a new fobik from local dodge dealer with the pin code. Tried to program the fobik with our launch pad 2. The first time we tried after programming, the IPC would light up and performed bulb check when the ignition was in run position but it wouldn't start vehicle. So we tried to program the fobik again but this time the IPC would display the message " wrong key fob". We have tried with another scan tool and same results. Just wondering if anyone has run into this before or has any thoughts about what is going on.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I already have checked the # of keys, it was at 2. The boss called the dealer and verified that we have the right part number and pin code. He also called another dealer and got the same answer.
I agree double check the pin code, have dealer check and make sure it is correct , also not totally sure, but maybe try to delete all keys and then re-program all together.

Do not select delete all keys that will not end well. I've never used a launch pad so I can't speak on it's behalf but what other tools have you tried?
We have tried a launch x431 pad 2, Autel maxi sys 908 and tomorrow a local shop is letting us borrow the snap on Zeus to see if that will work. I have a feeling it won't but have to try to know.
Like Todd said below i’ve Failed before using aftermarket scanner like the autel and had to use the factory tool also been called out to shops to program after there aftermarket tools failed witech would be the best bet but I’m sure that’s not what you want to hear
Don’t even bother borrowing the Zeus. No key coverage for that vehicle
I have personally seen,many times, aftermarket scan tools fail to program fobiks on FCA vehicles. Afterwards, I coukdd not program the fobik with Witech
Haven't seen a Launch do it yet, but I suspect that is the case. Have you been successful in the past?
This is the first fobik programming we have tried. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing wrong. I have come across numerous things with the launch and Autel that the function is there but doesn't actually work🤯🔫.
I believe this truck has a RF Hub module correct?? If so then it also has a 5 or 6 digit PIN. This can only be done by a locksmith or if you have VSP/LSID you can obtain a PIN that way and try it with your tools. If it has a 5 or 6 digit PIN and you get it from the dealer it will not work . The PIN from the dealer only works if you are using a DealerConnect which can only be obtained if your an…

Yes, this has the Rf hub. I put in the pin code from the dealer and the scan tool didn't lock me out or say it was wrong, which I would assume it would. Is it possible that the pin would unlock the module but not let the fobik be programmed?
I am not certain, but I think that 2 SKIM code stuff started in 2016 or so. But, that is correct, 2 different Pin's, 2 different log ins. Techauthority or Dealerconnect.
Autel should program this Zeus I doubt will work if you had the wrong key generally the chip will take but the buttons will not work. was there an issue why are you replacing the keys? i know for sure almost all key programming tools make short work of this , The problem is your using scanners that may or may not work for key programming, which could be your issue . Also don’t rule out a bus…
The issue with the old fobik is that it had to be squeezed in one certain spot for it to be recognized by the vehicle.
Chrysler has changed suppliers so many times of Fobiks. You may end up have to replace the WCM/WIN Module/Ignition switch in order to make this work with new Fibiks. Also, it is possible the SKIM code the dealer is giving you will not work. Is the Autel saying the correct PIN has been entered? I can almost guarantee the Snap-On will not do this procedure.
As mentioned, aftermarket locksmith tools will do this job easily. Otherwise find someone with wiTECH 2.0, or even Chrysler J2534 software. You can add keys using the J2534 software i have done it many times. However, the J2534 software will soon be going away and incorporated into wiTECH 2.0 software.
Thanks for the clarification Benjamin. I too have had the solder break in an immo chip in a 14 RAM Fobik. Benjamin has the correct response.
I've done several of these with the Autel 908 without a problem. You should be able to see number of keys programmed. I've had occasions where I did an Erase All because it was maxed out.
The problem with erasing is now you have a vehicle that used to run , if your programming equipment is hit or miss this can send you down the rabbit hole, I would find a mobile locksmith in his area development a relationship with them for the ones that give you a tough time. most locksmiths equipment will be able to pull the pin on that no problem, and this could also be the issue wrong…
I do agree with you...in his case, with no other options, sometimes the software looking for a new # vs locked in with the old saved programming could work.....the same theory as new parts still showing faulty before resetting trims....just example
Thanks for the reply, Corey. I'm subbed to your YT channel as picoboo.. the number of keys was at 2 on both tools. We tried the Zeus today and that didn't even have the function available. Boss took it to the dealer and they couldn't program it either. Said that it's a faulty fobik. Not sure what is going to happen now, if we will program the new fobik or the dealer.. no one has told me🙈🙉🙊
