Vehicle had a no cranking condition and transmission wouldn’t pull in reverse or drive. Found and repaired the loose ground cable to body. Now it starts and runs fine but still has transmission issue. Replaced TCM thinking the loose ground problem took it out. Programmed TCM using J2534 CarDaq M and latest version FJDS. Tried the transmission calibration with Verus Edge software 19.2 and also Autel MS908S. Fails calibration with both. I noticed on Verus looking at the fault /error data the clutch motor A&B - phase circuit fault shows Short to Ground. Possible bad motors? Is a factory scan tool needed? I have done a calibration on other DPS6 trans with the Verus and no problems.
Hi I have done many of these when replacing tcm (mechatronic) I always program with Ford IDS other scanners give me problems also check for software updates on pcm and abs would help recalabiration
Hi Tim: From what I understand, the two main issues were the ground and the TCM. There are a couple of older videos from FordTechMakuloco concerning this. In your …e, it appears to be the motors in the replacement module. Also, Ford has a service campaign as part of the lawsuit settlement concerning this transmission but it only covers … vehicles. But there was an earlier campaign for…
Thanks for the info. Anthony.
There is a repair process that can be done to the forks on these. I recently watched a video that Andrew Gibson posted on iatn. You basically are cleaning and lubricating the roller bearings on the fork assembly
I’ll go over there to check it out. Thanks
Why did you not perform any testing to determine the fault? It should be expected that the fault which inhibited engagement will also inhibit calibration, unless the fault actually was the TCM. This is one important reason to test before replacing parts.
I did try and preform a calibration test before I replaced TCM with same result. I have change the TCM on these for same symptoms and fixed the problem. I’ve check fuses , grounds, power supply to TCM. Work load is pretty high right now and I haven’t had time to get back on it today. I’ll go over everything again tomorrow and see if I’m missing something.
