Mercedes programming tools
Hi I'm looking for alternate tools other than the OEM to program Mercedes Benz vehicles. My Autel does some to most things, but I want a backup possibly a “my main go too” if it turns out to be a good tool. Thank you in advance for any recommendations.
If you do a lot of MB the Xentry (factory tool) software is relatively inexpensive at $3800?? A year. Other than that I’ve been very happy with Autel ms919 has programmed everything I’ve needed on MB. Next in my experience is the autologic tool we had the assist plus but I think they have a newer one out now.
I was told the tool and software is was more expensive then that. I have been told repeated times getting set up was a nightmare.
I just checked yesterday, the kit 4 is 28K, includes 4 years of updates and ability to program. Travis is quoting the year long J2534 option that is still ONLY doing drive train, despite the right to repair mandate. Setup is not a nightmare, it is just 3 month wait time!
I was under the impression the year subscription for use with j2534 gave you the same full diagnostic xentry software that comes on the “kit 4” just doesn’t have any hardware you have to have the laptop and the Jbox. Is this not the case?
Only from 2018 and up. 2017 and below is drivetrain only.
The autologic Drive Pro is the best alternative to xentry. They can program with it as well as tech support.
I was told by OPUS IVS that they can only do ECM/TCM on MB with the Drive Pro. Has your experience been different Jimmy??
i Scan 3 is the current boss on MB. The Support On Demand feature allows for provider to remote in with the Mercedes Tablet.
how does one get setup with them for that ? I've got an iscan 2wt. i was told about the feature but was a little hesitant.
Get in touch with Mike Almond. He sells in your area. Diagnostic Solutions …
DO you know a vender where I can get the Iscan 3? I am not familiar with that brand.
I will take good care of you Phillip! I have been supporting the Autoland brand for 15 years! Google my business name and give me a call.
I understand that to have full coverage you need a Xentry Tab with a subscription, is a bit expensive about 18000.00 for the tool and 17000.00 ish for the subscription for four years that is the minimum you can buy. And then on top of that is the $3200.00 a year for the WIS. I believe the pass-thru only covers emissions related items. Autel, I have a Maxisys Elite and a Maxim IM608 Pro, don't do…
“I have a Maxisys Elite …, don't do MB programming or SCN coding” This is incorrect. The Autel will do programming and SCN coding on most MB vehicles/modules from 2006 and up if you have a current subscription.
Please go to pro.auteltech.com and then under Support go to Vehicle Coverage, select your tool, vehicle Make and under Vehicle Model choose All, leave year as is and under Function/Sub-function type programming and then you can see how many modules the tool can do programming on, regardless the tool does a good job at coding. Based on this fact I would not recommend…
I think the function/sub-function search you want is “Control module programming”. There you will see the list is quite extensive. That said, the Autel can actually program far more modules than those listed in the support pages. This has always been the case since Autel tends to stay below the radar with regards to “official” functionality for well documented reasons.
Hi Phillip, I bought the i-scan 3 from OEMTools.com 2 years ago at a very good price, call John Gue …, for me it has been the best aftermarket option in European cars.
Hi Phillip, Tool support and timely service are essential with high level tooling. While there are many high quality ISCAN distributors available you should consider one in Mountan time or Pacific time because they are available to you during your work hours. Have a great grizzly bear Thanksgiving!! Boyd
