We have the car listed above at the shop and it needs a PCM. I was wondering what kind of programing a new PCM needs and if a used PCM is an option. Thanks for any info.
It will need a new PCM and ODIS factory software for programming.
Hi Brian, A used one can be done if you have cloning software. You could use Abrites or KTAG on this one. In my opinion that is the best way to do it. You can do new with ODIS. Without the vehicle specific software loaded, I don't expect too many common tools can address it.
Check with xemodex, don't know if spelling is correct
used will work fine for ODIS as well. When in odis, you will need to go to IMMOBILIZER SERVICING. You do not need to worry about virginizing a PCM. After you match the IMMO, you will need to code the PCM. Good luck
Chris, My understanding is that the vehicles with component protection cannot be done with ODIS. (Used Parts) It seems 2006 and up should be component protected. If this is incorrect, I would sure like to know.
Mike I have used ODIS to remove component protection on many USED VW/Audi modules... The system will log your user name/password and query the server then unlock the module.
Well then, I stand corrected.
Bill is correct. Used is perfectly fine.
Hello Chris! I don't believe I have yet tried anything newer than 2012 or 13. Can you confirm or have you done used modules from 2013 and up? just wondering if anyone has found a late model that doesn't work with ODIS. Thanks
I do them all the time
If you decide you’d like someone to handle that for you, we can get you squared away.
If I’d get you the vin could you code it for me or not?
Both ECUs would have to be provided for a cut and paste of information.
Yes we can. We can program the vin and all other needed coding to make it plug and play. We could also copy paste the data like Mike is mentioning.
So all I’d need to do is immobilizer?
No, it would be ready to go When you received it.
