Key programming / Immo Work
Looking to step up my key programming and immobilizer services. I am comparing the Auto Pad Pro lite and the Autel IM508. Both are about the same price range. I know both Autel and Auto pro pad make a higher version of the tools that offer other types of programming features.... I am mainly looking for OBD programming with this idea and Not internal module connections / EEPROM reflashing. Maybe there is another multi line tool I should consider?
Currently I have Autel MaxiSys and several OE tools that I use to do this type of work. Looking to fill the gaps between these tools.
Thank you for your time and advise DN members!
We recently got a autek Ikey 820, It seems to do a good job. Leaves some to be desired on the domestics though. Unfortunately these key programmers seem to be as bad as cheap aftermarket scan tools. Some do some manufacturers well and others not at all. I will be adding both the auto pad pro lite and the im508 to our line up this year. Just like scan tools The right answer to the question which…
I use APP as well as several others. I don’t have the Autel brand tool. I will say this the APP is surprisingly powerful.
I do lots of key stuff. No one programmer does everything and support varies greatly from the tool suppliers. Expect to buy multiple tools as you expand the makes/models you can support. (Typically German cars are the hardest to do) I have a few different tools but I'm excited about Autels official entry into the space, their tools are good value and they seem to update them regularly. One…
Hi Bill, I can't speak for the IM508 but I hear it is decent. I have the AutoProPad and absolutely love it! With AutoProPad lite you miss the EEPROM features that you are talking about but most of the key functions are there. I use the AutoProPad mainly for CAN SKIM codes. It pulls them in seconds! It has the ability to write VIN to SKIM module. I have also done many Subaru and Mazda Keys. It…
For pulling the CAN Skim Codes is that through OBD2 or with the EEPROM?
OBDII, almost instant. In fact I have done 2 already today.
We recently demo'd the IM508 and then bought it. It works great for most asian vehicles, both push button start and blade/rke type vehicles. I have had some luck with some Jeeps as well. German vehicles are pretty much a no-go tho, does come with the necessary tools to do them if you're willing to remove modules and do some crazy stuff. I do a lot of newer vehicles as I work for a car lot with…
It claims to play well with VW. Have you had no luck with it on those as well?
I have only tried one VW, Passat I believe, and it did NOT work using the DLC. However, it did have an option to crack into modules and use the included hacker kit to pull pins/program immo. More than I wanted to do tho!
I have a IM608 and so far it has done all OBD programming for keys so far.
The AutoPropad is a much better tool than the Autel IM508. That said, there is a ground breaking machine coming from … launching at the AAPEX show. OE level scanner, J-2534 programmer and all the key programming goodness of the AutoProPad
