Nissan Key fob question
I had a new OE key fob programed by a local locksmith. On the new fob the remote start, lock and unlock buttons function. The trunk open and emergency button do not function. All buttons function on the the old fob. Tested the new fob with a TPMS tester, all buttons seem to work. Any suggestions on where to go with this now?
Where was the new OE key purchased from.? Did you cross compare the FCC ID,part #,etc. of new prox key verses what the original key has stamped on it. Remove the emergency key and check the #'s. Nissan is specific. Another tell tell that it may not be a exact match is if you have a I-key error message appear on the lcd screen of cluster upon starting the engine. Hope this helps.
Hi Mike, It's almost certainly a different key. If it had no wireless functionality, it might have failed to register in the BCM, but since you have 3 buttons that work, that's probably not the case. If you couldn't read any signal from the non-working buttons with your wireless tester, then it might be a defective key, but since you can, it's probably not. Most likely your replacement key is…
I know very little about Nissan, but the functions that are missing are like it is a valet key. Is it possible it was programmed that way ? Does Nissan even have valet keys? Just a thought.
Did your local locksmith miss that part? Does the vehicle have an owners manual set? They may have the info you are looking for.
If it worked with the original key fob and it doesn’t with the new it is either a defective key or incorrect key. All numbers need to match FCC and IC number.
The key was a refurbsihed “unlocked” used key, you need a brand new from dealer key. I have run into this myself and do not know why the refurbs on the later Nissan/Infinity keys do this. They older Nissan keys never had this issue. New dealer key will resolve issue.
I purchased the fob from Keyless Entry Remote Inc. I have reached out to them and they have requested more information. The IC and FCC #s match, but the Continental # is different. I will update as I get more information.
All of the numbers must be exactly the same for a perfect match. With a continental # being different than your original prox key it will certainly cause issues.
The vendor has offered to do an exchange on the fob. I'll proceed with that and see if it takes care of the problem. Thank you for information and replies.
