Nissan Pcm
Customer bought this car not running. The guy that sold it to him told him it needed a pcm. My customer put a pcm in it, now it will start, but it sets loss of communicatio with tcm codes, (I cant remember the code numbers) . I think the codes are putting it in a limp mode. I havent been able to locate a pcm for manuel shift except for a few used ones . If I buy one will it work?? Maybe have it programmed to the car?? I have a drew tech programmer. Thanks
For com codes, check the basics..powers and grounds for starters
So am I right to assume that this is a manual car that customer put a CVT optioned PCM into? If so, write the correct VIN and reprogram the PCM to the manual transmission. The PCM is looking for the CVT valve body that doesn’t exist if I’m understanding the situation.
The auto and manual ECM parts on this vintage Nissan are not interchangable. Jamming a calibration in there wont fix it.
Yes. I wouldn't waste time checking anything else until you have the right ECM. The one you have is expecting message from a non existing TCM. There is no PCM in this car , there' ECM and TCM
Agreed, correct me if I’m wrong but the ECM that is going into the car must be the same as The original from the factory. Also it will need to re programed for the immobilizer and register the VIN.
Ok, got the part # from my nissan parts guy,( they cant get it anymore). Part # he said is 23710-zt92a, I found it online suppose to be an oem nissan place, little over 700$, what all do I need to check before I put this in so it wont blow to?? Ohms on iac, what else?? Dont wont to leave anything out
Look for what fried the ecm. I think putting an ecm in there sets it up to get fried again. I could be wrong but I've seen it happen
All the wiring leading to the ecm. I would pull the wiring diagram and make sure all connectors to the ecm have good power and ground. If there was a short, it could occur again. Like I said, it may not be the problem with that vehicle but it does happen. The IAC is a decent start, but literally everything communicating to the ecm. Make no assumptions. This car has some damage that remains…
