Maintenance Reset Tool

Cody Diagnostician Illinois Posted   Latest

Hey guys we do a fair amount of oil changes on higher end european vehicles(bmw, mercedes, land rover, etc) and are thinking about buying a dedicated oil change reminder reset tool instead of waiting in line to use a full scanner. how versatile is the tool you are using? does it cover a wide range of vehicles? thinking about an autel maxi check pro because it can do some other useful functions such as abs bleed and parking brake service along with maintenance resets. and because we already have a autel maxisys elite that works pretty good on europeans.

Hi Cody, Autel makes some pretty good stuff, but do you research on what would best fit your needs. Check out Autel.com

I would recommend one of the Autel or Topdon scan tools for resets. I’m not familiar with the Maxi check pro but I would talk to an Autel or Topdon distributor like Isaac Rodell at autorescuetools.com - He could guide you on the best choice for what models you service.

I agree with Mr Glenn here. The other thing you might want to look is the software updates and how much you can pay for them. Maxi Check 808 it’s only been like about $120 and it does a lot.

Mercedes is easily done manually. BMW should be done manually-my launch has caused major issues in the past which required a tech support session to correct. VW and Audi are a breeze with Ross tech. Porsche works well with Autologic but I have been using my new iscan. the most difficult has been LandRover and Jaguar. When the manual way doesn’t work and the launch/iscan/Autologic fail as…

Just bought a topdon artidiag 600s. It was 275 on Amazon with free lifetime updates. I own a snap on verus, launch x431, Autel im608, and pass thru pro 4. With tha said I am highly impressed with the day to day stuff this cheap scanner can do. You get better than obd generic pids and a lot of service functions. No bi-directional. so far in the week I have had it I have been able to rest service…

Do you find your Autel IM608 can outperform the others? I watch Diagnose Dan, and it seems the Autel is the sole provider of correct data info. IE. Nox sensor PPM data pids..?

Haven’t seen any difference in data but the Autel does have coding functions the snap on doesn’t. I use it mainly for immo and key work though. My go to for diag is the verus.

We have the X431 Launch, Snap On Solus Legend and an Autologic/DrivePro-Legacy. Most of them can be reset, with the Launch. Haven’t had a vehicle yet the Launch wouldn’t do. Most can just be reset through the cluster for instance CBS, BMW. And Volvo Mercedes etc.

Most all of your BMW and Mercedes can quickly be reset using manual methods ( no tool needed)

I almost always do all resets manually. I rarely have to hook up a tool.
