Problems with new RCM
Hi Guys,
I'm having a little issue with a 2013 Ford E250 5.4l.
Back story is it went to a shop down the street for a no start he diagnosed it to be the RCM cutting power to the Fuel module (correct cause these RCMs replaced the older style inertia switch). It had completely rotted out. He installed a new module and truck started up all other lights off but airbag light on and these codes:
B00DF - 13-8B (passenger AIRBAG DIASABLE SWITCH OPEN CIRCUIT)
I performed a PMI & used as built from OASIS & it doesn't go away.
This vehicle does not actually have a switch (harness is there but goes into a dummy socket under the AUX jack.) and only has wiring going to the belt (NO seat weight sensor).
Anyone ever see this before? Is my best option to install the switch?
Thanks
Make sure all indicators on the on-off indicator light up!! Indicator is on the redio bezel.
I ran into a similar issue on a 17 Edge RCM throwing codes for a secondary deployment circuit. Turned out I had the wrong part and the second module had extra pins for the second deployment loop without the vehicle hardware to support it.
Thanks for the input guys… didn’t check the pet numbers cause it wasn’t me who installed it but I think I’ll take a look and compare with the old one and see. I’ll keep posted thanks !
The module is probably the wrong number or something wrong with the As built.
I replaced an RCM module 3 weeks ago. The new one was apparently plug and play. But it wasn't. The new module gave me abnormal codes that weren't even compatible with the truck. Performed a program, cleared codes and performed zero calibration. Truck was good after.
Ford RCM come with all sensors active, Program module with As Built Data. It will shut of unnecessary sensors. I have seen PMI or new programing not set correct As Built Data, ON some RCMs
You could also try special function in the utilities menu. Function 48712 is a generic RCM configuration utility that could be used as a last resort. As others have said likely forcing asbuilt/proper PMI should resolve this.
Hey guys thanks for all the input. When I originally programed it it asked my to input as built so I did & I didn't think to just performing an as built again after I had already programmed it. I performed AS Built and it worked. No more light no more code. Thanks
