Avatars?
Anyone know why DN deletes my avatar picture a few days after I post it?
I've tried a pic of myself and then a few neutral shapes and the result is the same.
I keep putting up a new one and a few days later its gone without a trace or a message from an admin.
Am I that ugly?
Thx
Short answer is yes, long answer is also yes
Ugly is such a strong word… I would choose… “not pleasant to the human eye”
Rough crowd but I did notice the others do not have an avatar either. You could be learning from the best. ;)
… My Avatar remains full strength since the start… in all of it's ugliness …lol … Hobbs.
Hi Jeff, When you go to upload a profile photo, a pop up appears with the criteria for the profile photo. If the photo doesn’t meet the criteria, it will get reset. Here’s a screenshot of that pop up. If you think your profile photo that was erased meets the criteria, can you post it here or send it to … so we can look into it and make sure the system is working as intended?…
… Thomas…but …but …. there are TWO people in the Avatar shot of YOU… over your right shoulder…the dude with the receding hairline …lol … {8^)~ … Dan H. … Hobbs… South Texas …
You’re right, plus it’s about 15 years old now that I think about it. I’ll get it updated soon. 😇
… Tom… I can hardly wait …. 15 years can do some wild things to a man's appearance… I think I am holding up very well… people can't believe I am 71 years old (next Thursday) … maybe I should update mine too, as it is about as outdated as yours (not quite) … maybe 10 years out of date… but I kinda like it… That is a St. Croix sunset in the background…Dan H. Hobbs… South Texas …
Jeff none of those photos meet the requirements, according to how they're written.
Technically, the baby photo is within the rules, in that it is cropped correctly, in focus and a real pic of me that I would have no problem using on Linked In However, read my post below that was prior to your response.
Probably gotta point out that this ^^^ was a joke….
Jeff, I don't know, but maybe the pics that you are saving don't quite conform to the requirements in the settings. Possibly your photo isn't quite clear enough, or sized to meet the requirements. It saved my fugly mugshot a long time ago, so perhaps a photo of that size or like Dan's might work okay, where your face doesn't fill the entire space. BTW, that photo isn't of me, it's some old fart…
difficult to answer without having seen the photo first. Just kidding, it's kinda impossible to be this ugly, that even electronics convulses. Must be technical reasons. Sorry for joking here. I know you need solutions.
It seems were stuck being respectful professional individuals here. I actually like that there are some loosely high standards for little things like that, else it's a short hop from an avatar of a Monkey to pictures of you doing cookies in the Wal Matt parking lot.
Agreed. The actual pics I've wanted to use as avatars are just boring pics of my face, but those don't seem to fly, either. I actually attached a JPG of the “place-holder” avatar the forum provides (in my case, the letters “J” and “A”). That got taken down as well.
Jeff, Interesting post. I too would rather have something interesting and somewhat inappropriate as an avatar. Like this fuel pump from a customer‘s 1916 Buick. Randy
Hi Jeff, Can you send me the one of your face? I looked through the history and am only seeing instances of what looks like your company logo as having been reset.
On the other hand, you could be too beautiful for the algorithm and it's only showing us ugly folk.
Thanks for the confidence-boost, but this is the least likely explanation….
DARCARS? So, the Darvish family expanded all the way out to New Jersey? I suppose that makes sense - I've been gone from the DC Metro for almost 15 years now, so the last time I saw Tammy Darvish was probably more than 20 years ago. I remember when they just had the two dealerships in Tyson's Corner.
