Needs Reprogramming

2013 E 150 was originally Lpg has been converted to gas but still has Lpg programming, Very hard to start, fuel trim codes, codes for missing sensors. When I try to program it as built it does not even show PCM as an option. It appears to be locked out. Any way around this? Vehicle was purchased like this we have recently figured out what was going on after talking to Roush who originally modified the vehicle.

I ran into this, so what I did was use a PCM from another similar vehicle and start the IDS session with that PCM plugged in. Then when IDS identified the vehicle and asked to confirm the vehicle I choose NO it was not the correct vehicle and then I proceeded to enter the correct ECM part number and plugged in the ROUSH ECM (hot swap) at the same time. IDS then went ahead and wrote the correct…

I just did this to a ‘14 F-150 the other day. When starting an IDS session, it said “incorrect PCM calibration programmed” or something. I just performed a key off program and entered tear tag number and it worked. What Mario said above may be required though I'm not sure.

Per my experience, the Roush ECM is locked out and will not let you override the software thru any conventional procedures.

When ID'd in fords software, select no, this vehicle does not match. The follow prompts to enter tear tag and it should force stock PCM calibration in the PCM. It will not change asbuilt or configuration, just the PCM operating software.

Not sure this helps you, but I dealt with one where wires had been removed from the DLC connector. May be worth peaking under the dash at DLC.

That would most likely be the FEPS wire to the PCM. Most of the CNG upfits I worked on had that wire snipped too. Forgot all about that.

We decommissioned several GM LPG vans over the years. They belonged to a gov't agency. CEL came on and attempted to reprogram to non-lpg vehicle. GM Suggested a new PCM but the agency decided to drive with the CEL on. They surplussed these things after a couple of years. Typical gov't waste at our cost.

Most of you were correct, I was able to do the manual entry of the tear tag number without letting it identify the VIN and then it would allow as built programming. I was able to leave the original VIN which I thought it wouldn't but it worked fine. It's strange someone to the time to convert it back to gas and did a good job, they just didn't do the last step. Thanks for the help.

These were CNG prep from ford and built gasoline from the assembly line. They pull all of the gas equipment, then add CNG and a flash to the PCM, original cal for these were all always for gasoline.
