Can used skreem modules be installed in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Installed used ECM and Used SKREEM module, Vehicle runs and drives but security is always armed and alarm goes off when doors are opened, also when fob buttons are pressed the lights blink but do not perform the desired action ie unlock/lock, door switches will only lock NO UNLOCK , and SRS light on
First off, may I ask why you replaced these pieces? And to answer your question, no, you can't put a used SKREEM in.
Vehicle had a no start condition and fobs would not work and door locks would not work, originally sent ECM to be reprogrammed without SKIM since new parts are not available. Vehicle started then went back to the no start, then installed a “reman” ECM from an online website and a used Skreem (since new for this vehicle is impossible to find)
Try this When a PCM, or ECM, and the Sentry Key REmote Entry Module (SKREEM) on vehicles equipped with the Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) are replaced at the same time, perform the following steps in order: - Program the new or used PCM or ECM. - Program the new or used SKREEM (also known as the Wireless Control Module/WCM). - Replace all ignition keys and program them into the new…
I don't quite follow your steps. Could you explain a bit further?
Unless you can Virginize the SKIM, you cant put a used SKIM in a vehicle. Unless you change the vehicles VIN in the manner I posted.
If the PCM was the only problem, you could install the original SKREEM. Autel, Launch and Snap on all have VIN write functions. With the SKREEM disconnected rewrite the VIN in the PCM and then reconnect the SKREEM. It will start.
Totally. Or use the factory tool to rid yourself of the offending P0633, I think it is.
You can't install a used SKIM module on any FCA vehicle unless you perform the replaced PCM routine using the PIN code for the VIN in the used SKIM This essentially changes the VIN .
You can use the DMAX tool (no longer sold by AeTools) to Virginia the screen. Otherwise you can replace the pcm and the skreem from the same vehicle and it will work. Only issue is if your in an emission testing state you may encounter some issues.
Thanks for that. I think that's what happened to the OP. Used from same car maybe. As I stated, the SKIM has to be virginized. Dmax is still available but yeah, AE doesnt have it.
It’s weird that it runs and drives though. And just has the security issue
What scan tool are you using? What steps did you take to diagnose the original issue? ( No start)
I am not 100% involved in the diagnosis of the no start, we use a locksmith to deal with security type issues. we ended up sending original PCM out to get reprogrammed without skim to hopefully kill 2 birds with 1 stone, since finding new skreem and new PCM are not possible could only get refurbished PCM and as far as skreem module. The answer always seems to be January 1 2021
I hooked My scanner on it yesterday and figured out why it runs and drives. Locksmith set the vin of the ECM to the vin in the skreem, so in order to get the alarm and locks to work correctly. The pin for the skreem vin must be put into the ECM correct?? That will atleast get the vehicle running at 99% until the blank skreem is sourced How difficult is it to get a pin for a vehicle no1 probably…
The only issue with using the VIN of a different vehicle is that your other modules will have VIN mismatch errors in them... A 2006 is pre FCA, it is pretty easy to change the vin in the Skreem module, then change it in the PCM.. If you have the Autel Maxisys, it's a 5 minute job... If you have Abrites, it's about 3 minutes... The FCA modules didn't start causing problems until 2012.. That's why…
