Working on New Class Structure For Electrical Classes in Las Vegas
Working with my former employer, I am trying to put together a day or days of electrical instruction meant for all levels of diagnostic experience. This class would come with a pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow. You would get a free Steelman scopemeter like the one I have shown in some of my posts. ($300 on Amazon) The classes would be limited to 20 students. Each session would be divided into theory class and hands on training. The hands on would be in groups of five students led by a master technician trained on the particular module. We will have workbenches and vehicles set up that are bugged. The solution would be found by using either the multimeter or the scope portion of the tool. The point is that most of us are hands on learners. By learning in our brains then applying with our hands the retention is much better. Furthermore, with the tool in hand, we can go back home and use it right off the bat.
I would like to find some master diagnostic technicians that would want to participate as instructors with the hands on portion. You will get into the theory classes for free and get the tool as payment. This will be held first in Las Vegas. If successful, it will come to other markets.
I would also like to know if this class would interest others as participants. Thanks for your input.
It would if I were closer (of course). I haven't had any hands-on training since I left the USMC 25 years ago. It's a miracle I can use a scope at all! ;-) Actually, all my scope training is thanks to Paul Danner and YouTube, which means nobody has a good excuse for not being at least semi-proficient with a scope. I would definitely attend any hands-on training, if it ever existed, near me.
Mike, I’d like to help if possible . Feel free to reach out. …
Brandon, I will drop you a line.
I am interested, what is the date that you are planning on ?
We are tentatively looking a the fall of 2019. It could be sooner. It is just in the planning stage right now.
Would this be held during SEMA APPEX week? I may be interested. Let me know!!!
Hi Rick, It would be a great week to do it however all the areas of the facility will be booked that week. Busiest week for them all year.
I am interested in the class. Keep us informed please,
If you bring it to the East coast let me know. Virginia area. Be glad to help!
Mike, do you have plans to cover circuit simulation in the theoretical part? It looked there is quite some interest in it, judging by replies to this post: diag.net/msg/m3c23fb5zy…
Mike, I thought you may have been tied into the show week. Keep me in the loop if you still are looking for assistance as you develop the program. What is the format you wish to have: * 8 hour class * 20 Students - Classroom * 4 bays Hands-on activity 5 students per instructor What contacts do you have for the venue? Tech School?? Or Hotel?
Rick, The classes are designed for beginners and as a refresher for others. I have found even basic classes teach us old dogs new tricks. Two sessions broke up into two parts. Essentially two hours instruction / Two hours hands on per session. Hands on will have 4 modules. One or two vehicles and the other modules will be built on boards. One instructor for each 5 students in the lab. Second…
