Windows In/Op Except From Main Switch After Main Switch Replacement

So, I was asked to do a mobile job at the end of today. Body shop had replaced the master window switch on this 09 Silverado crew cab as a courtesy to customer due to switches needed to be pressed hard to get windows to work, they all worked but not easily. They ordered a GM master switch and installed it, now the passenger front, rear, and drivers rear will not work with their respective switches…like the window lock is on. They will all work from the master switch. So I think RAP module needs to be programmed, there is no RAP module listed on SPS and the drivers door lock module and passenger module will not communicate. This is a base truck without power folding mirrors/no heated seats. The real strange thing is I cannot command the windows up and down when I try, I show the command issued but no movement. I took another single window switch out of another truck and it would work all the windows….I don't have a gm service subscription, only SPS. Maybe someone will know right off, but what is the next step? I think the new switch master switch is bad, but I don't want to guess. Thanks. 1GCHC43K19F…

Did you program the new DDS ( Door Lock Control Module ) after it was installed?

I thought I included that in my post, on the SPS menu, I saw drivers door lock module (if equipped) and passenger door lock module (if equipped) and I could not communicate with either of them. (this is SPS not communicating)

Did you look and see if in SPS they called it a DDS? GM can call the same part three different things. In SI one portion calls it the DDS and then under programming they call it the DLCM.

I went through every available module, I am almost certain there was not a DDS listed. All I saw was the driver and passenger door modules , as I mentioned, and they would not communicate. I even looked under the heated seat options (which is did not come with) .

That seems odd. The new could be bad. I would throw the old in and attempt to program it just to make sure my equipment was working correctly. I looked up the part and there is only one part number. …

I ran out of time , it was after five and the customer was waiting, he took the truck and will bring back, I am leaning towards bad new part but why would another switch out of another vehicle operate the other 3 windows??

Chris- Been down this road already. Easiest way to determine if the switch needs programing is by typing in the VIN here: tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web Thanks to vato loco Geoff for that tidbit!!

I am using GM SI, so any other SI may differ. But build the vehicle, and from there at the top are hyperlinks to common used stuff. Click the control module references hyperlink and then you will see all the modules offered, schematics, replacement procedures and programming and setup procedures.

Brad- Did you build his specific vehicle? Does it say to program the switch? I ask because this one I had did not need to be programmed in the end.(even though people said it did and so did SI) The customer returned, I replaced the switch and absolutely no programing was needed at all. All functions worked fine. (Also I ran the vin number of my truck on SPS and it did not show a…

Thanks for making me think today man! I haven't worked on a vehicle this old in a long time. After I read your post I was walking up to parts and the lube kid had a truck of that vintage in his bay. This first photo is of the VIN provided from here and entered into SI. I grabbed my MDI2 and hooked up to the lube kids pickup. This is a 2008. I think they are painting with a broad brush when…

I am still following this thread….will post update when customer brings back on. Thanks for the info…. especially about you getting the error code too, I was thinking my Autel J-box was not getting along with SPS.

When I tried that, it would throw up “error code” . So I selected (this is from memory) as I stated both the Drivers Door lock module and passenger module, it would not communicate with either one…. I cannot remember the exact error short script but it was similar to below. sps.exception.no-valid-cop

Chris, You'll need to contact Techline for help with this, the number is … There are a bunch of prompts, but you'll want to choose the TIS2Web prompt. They usually want to verify that you're using a supported J2534 device and that your computer meets minimum system requirements. The J-boxes they support are the MDI and MDI2. I've heard that they also support the Drewtech Mongoose…

Thanks, I have done many successful programming jobs with my Autel Pro J2534. I was also able to connect to all the other modules and verify updated calibrations. Just could not connect to the door modules.

I’ll be honest I didn’t look this up. My memory says at the master switch you have to do a recalibration… One window at a time hold in the closed position for 5 seconds then fully open window and hold in the open position for 5 seconds and then fully close window and hold got 5 seconds. Then the individual window switch should work. Also, are you sure the window lock button isn’t turned on?

positive, I also tried every window hold down and up for x seconds. Absolutely positive the window lock wasn't on….remember the other switched worked when swapped out with switch from different vehicle/

Sorry. I thought I read that the single replacement switch didn’t work the windows.

Chris , so with the original master switch do you have communications with drivers door module?, my thoughts r if u don't have comms with the door modules flash is not going to take, I have used the Autel j2534 and flash programmed thru SPS an aftermarket BWD master switch, and if I recall only the drivers window would work until it was programmed, so if it is a communication issue check the…

I was rushed yesterday, as I got the call at 4 pm, I did this outside in the cold and wind as well with customer waiting. I did a rush diagnostic, I will hope to get it back and post follow ups. I think I should have been able to communicate with modules with Autel scan tool, but even SPS would not read them.
