2012 Isuzu NPR HD ( Gas 6.0 liter )
I'm having trouble finding any resources to help form a diag plan for this vehicle. Any help would be appreciated. We have the Autel maxisys elite 906s with Jbox but it is struggling to connect or recognize the vehicle. I also have a durabook and I scan II but they will not connect to this van. I used my generic hand scanner to get the current codes. This is not our normal vehicle we work on but I'd love to figure this out. We ran fuses and checked the battery then got busy both checked fine. Also if this a vehicle that we should bail out on I'd love to know that. In my experience the consumer line up with Isuzu was terrible.
Thank you so much
Check battery voltage at TCM. We work on these a lot and find bad connections at the battery terminals causing a low voltage condition to tcm. Usually under 12 volts. Isuzu’s tcm needs 12 volts to communicate. Also check grounds under drivers side headlight on frame. Three wires come out a loom and bolt to frame . Grounds get corroded and dash controlls loose connection. Also check battery to…
Also this is a GM based vehicle which uses GM Tech 2 to diagnose as well as Isuzu IDSS.
Get a Nexiq usblink and the idss and you will have access to both the scantool and the information system...best bet for Isuzu's
iDSS works as a scan tool for Isuzu NPR 6.0 gas but doesn’t work for programming GM gas engine based NPR . You have to use GM TDS for programming. Engine management is GM based
Your Durabook should have GDS on the GM partition, Have you tried using it on this vehicle? It is a GM platform.
A lot of times you can build these vehicles as a … Silverado 6.0 on a normal scanner. Anyway beyond all that what is the customer complaint? I guess I am asking because uou are having trouble getting a scanner to connect but yet you posted DTC's. I am a little confused. Not questioning your abilities, just confused;)
Did you try to build the vehicle manually? If I use manual selection for Isuzu with my ms906ts it lists a 6.0L as a option.
Thank you guys going to dig into it this AM.
Hey this is Russ. Thank you for the help with this unit. I am here in Omaha helping Matt with this NPR. Where exactly is the TCM located? Also where can we find a wiring diagram as well? Thank you so much for the help with this. Russ
Hi Russell, have you contacted Joe at your home office about this truck? He or one of your support staff may have what you want. if not, contact Identifix via email and they most likely will send you whatever diagram you need.
Thanks Jamey, I just reached out to them.
Isuzu’s TCM is located below glovebox under fuse panel.
Richard, its been slow moving on the NPR. There is two modules under the glove box. Difficult to determine which one is what. ****THE KICKER*** someone stole the cats off of it last night. Hacked sawed them off. We had to take it down to our exhaust guy hope to get it back this Thursday.
Check fuses #20 which is 10amp ecm And 22 which is 10amp battery hot at all times. If truck gas GM trans in it module is in trans . If it has Asin trans in it the module under glove box will be marked. Still sounds like canbus issue or low voltage issue.
