Hello, I’ve got a problem with this 2020 Ford raptor. vehicle was in a front end collision. Power steering rack Assembly was replaced with a brand new OE. Took three months to get. The only codes left in the system is power steering rack initial configuration not complete in PSCM. And ABS, PCM, IPMA. The codes in those module says lost communication with power steering module A.

So we start out with automatic as built data with IDS. Go through the process and it completes just fine. But still have a warning on the dash and there is still the same code in the power steering rack for initial configuration not complete. No other codes in the system except in ABS, PCM, IPMA The codes in that module says lost communication with power steering Control module A.

Then we decided to do manual as-built data and the same thing happens.

We do a pin out test 1 out of 3 pins on the rack. We choose pin number 1 for source voltage and passes. (gray orange wire).

Then we decide to do a PMI with the old rack. So we hook the connectors to the old rack and start the PMI process. Connect it back to the new rack and still the same codes.

When we connected the old rack to the vehicle all the codes went away and everything was fine.

Could I possibly have a bad new rack or wrong part????

Does a test drive for 15 mins make any difference?

Is there any possibility of swapping the old computer onto the new rack? Also, see if there are any other communications codes, possibly on the same network. You could have an intermittent CANBUS issue. Water in the floorboards? Is there a sequence to the programming where you need to calibrate another module first, like the ABS or the Steering Angle Sensor? Hope any of this helps.

We actually looked into that. Tore the old rack apart and the micro processor is soldered wires straight to the motor. I looked into steering angle sensor and I did not see a reset.

The code is for configuration not complete. It doesn't mean programming not complete. Go into the ABS module and complete all of the configurations available, then clear all of the codes.

You're not using IDS/FJDS on a 2020 Raptor?

Have to use FDRS.

First thing I tried was FDRS and told me to go to IDS.

Too new of a vehicle for IDS. But, it varies by Y/M.

FDRS is where my mind was headed as Ken mentioned.

Exactly what I was speaking of…got involved in a late model Ranger, and I was redirected as well. IDS worked well for the programming I had to do after that.
