How's Biz? What's New?

I saw something in the local paper today that caught my eye. It is somewhat related to a lot of comments I hear from different people in this trade. Perhaps, some of you may even agree with it.

“A Lan…ter County girl, the graduate of a local high school, lost a position she held for a short while as a sales clerk in a general store, for the reason that she couldn’t for the soul of her figure out how much nine and three-fourths dozen of eggs were at 52 cents a dozen. She had no more idea of fractions than a tadpole had of oratory.

Are the teachers, student, parents or the children at fault in this age of moving pictures, chewing gum, automobile extravagances, wholesale amusements, movements towards the city, strikes, dope, indulgence, fads and fancies, indecency of dress, moral indifference and world-wide discontent?” (collected by Stan White, Southern Lan…ter County Historical Society)

You may've picked up that "today" turns out to be 100 years ago. Looks like there's really nothing special about things today, after all. Now, get off my lawn!

Okay I'm fired? All in fun Is that 9 eggs and one that is broken and missing 1/4 of it? Or is that 3/4 of the eggs have a nine on them? If its 9 eggs in the carton then $.39 would be appropriate? Remember these young will be taking care of you pretty soon! Enjoy: Search You tube 8 vs 12 slices of pizza and you'll see its scary.

I'm still laughing! And if you are not then you have to watch the 8 vs 12 pizza slice video. I did not post the link because some language may offend one.

Hi Rick: If he knows that she eats Hawaiian pizza, he knew the answer before asking. Looking at the video may've helped me figure out why they call pizza in CT "apizza" (ph: abeetz). "If you try to put ham and pineapple on a pizza, imabeatz you to death!" Now, we just have to figure out is is cause or effect. 🤔 Guido

I think that most of you are missing the point of the article. It is telling us that not much really has changed in 100 years as far as young people being stupid.

Hi Stuart: You have the gist of it though the quoted section is from 100 years ago. A lot of people squawk about this, that and everything else concerning the younger generation. Sometimes, mental gymnastics are performed to attempt proving the point that the world is doomed because of the younger generation. While I have no way of proving this, I would not be surprised if this has been going…
