Injector Programming
Hello all, we have replaced the complete fuel system in this truck due to DEF in the fuel system.. I have it all back together and ready to run except for the fact that I cannot program the injectors.. I am using a Verus Pro with 19.2 software on it and it gives me the option to put the code in the injectors but when I put the new code in and click install new code, it tells me programming failed... I tried it on 5 out of 8 injectors, with the same results. I double checked that I have the correct code.. Has anybody had success in programming injectors with a Verus?? Will I just need to get it towed to a dealer? will it start and run without programming the injectors???
Thanks in advance
did you ck. with snap on tech support-? I also own a snap on -- Paul
yes we have and they say that means we're trying to program the wrong number into it but I have checked and rechecked and it is not the wrong number
I’ve only ever completed injector programming on these with consult 3+. There’s a decent chance it can be done with Autel MS 908 or elite, if you can manage to borrow one.
what brand? or which ones?? replaced all of them with OE
That what I wanted to know. I have had this problem with remans (installed by the vehicle owner), because the codes were wrong. Can you still retrieve the old codes? If so, it will run, but probably slightly roughly. I wouldn't work it hard, but a little driving shouldn't hurt it. The variation is very limited; 15 years ago it wasn't even programmed.
You should be good to at least drive it to another shop or the dealer for programming then. It just might idle a little rough and consume fuel differently, but should drive, no need to tow it.
Great thanks Matt!! I was of the same opinion but wanted some confirmation:)
A friend of mine works for Bosch in their diesel division. They get tons of phone calls and complaints about "Bosch" reman parts. Well the injector still says Bosch on it, but it was not rebuilt by a reputable or certified builder. It takes quite a bit of training and tooling to rebuild these injectors and get the right code... I don't have much confidence in most places that do them lol.
Leon I have had issues using the Verus and ZEUS performing diesel functions on the 6.6 Duramax I have had to resort to the OE tools I have for both To complete some of the functions the Sanp On tool would not complete The truck should crank and run but the injector calibration needs to be performed. the Duramax you can copy the info from the Glow plug controller don’t know if that can be…
You dont have a J-box? I would think this could easily be done with a J-box and a sub.....
yes I do have a J-box.. Honestly I hadn't thought of that option. We did get the truck started, the Fass system was air locked....
Ah, yes, a FASS system, which is supposed to keep air from entering the injection pump, but actually doesn't purge air from itself. This is the primary reason that I quit installing the junk, and I am ashamed of the ones which I installed.
Sorry for the delay in responding to you all.. I got busy and forgot. so the no-start was caused by lack of fuel which was just a matter of getting the fuel system primed (the new FASS system was airlocked) got it primed and she fired up and ran great, but I was not able to reprogram the injectors. we had to send to the dealer to make that happen. Again, sorry for the delay
