Can a used BCM be flashed?
Can a used BCM (mismatch VIN's identified) be programmed in a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country V-6? (see attached photo of codes- sorry for the glare)
Customer replaced/installed a used BCM from a junkyard after many issues with the stock one.
Thank you and be safe.
Tim
14 Town and Country has a TIPM not a BCM, you can download the build configuration from Chrysler into it, if the VIN updates you are good.
Flashed no. If the TIPM is the same part number as original, I can change the VIN. Then you would have to perform the configuration. If there are any flashes for the TIPM is will update the current software based on modules original software(meaning if the software is wrong it will put the latest wrong software in it). Flashing will not change the VIN.
Tim, If you are able to rewrite the VIN with your Autel, would you kindly let us know? I'm sorry I have no help for you as to how to do that but it appears those who responded already have some experience in actually doing it, though they only say how it CANNOT be done, i.e., via reflashing. Download the build configuration? What procedure is that? PROXI alignment? In which module? Something…
In wiTECH2 under guided diagnostics restore vehicle build configuration.
I will try this on Monday. Thanks again. Wait for my call to support HAHAHA
How do I locate “Guided Diagnostics“, while plugged into the car only?
tim I recall I was at a shop diagnosed bad TIPM, shop decided to get a used one, it was a no go no matter what I did , they even had another from a know good chrysler same year make model , TIPM/BCM function fine but mix match vin so they ordered a new one and just had to install push down air bag fuses maybe also IO(D ignition off draw) fuse, key up for twenty seconds, key off and fire it up…
It’s better to get a new one then theres no programming needed. Because the used one will most likely be bad too. There are junk anyway.
Tim sounds like you have a spare installed. Does it run with it? I usually just have them repaired when they are stubborn about original config./vin wont write. tipmrebuilders.com As soon as there is an eeprom class near Indianapolis, I'm going, and just start moving eeproms over. That is always a solution. That's what I like about that approach. As long as the original wasn't…
Yes it runs with the used one in it BUT some of the accessories don't work (lock/unlock and rear side windows). I can hear the actuators being activated but no movement.
Looks like the used TIPM needs to be “configured” to the current stock ECM VIN. The Autel should be able to “configure” it. The term “flash/program” doesn’t not apply as it’s a used module. I’ll keep you guys posted, thanks again for your responses, interest & guidance. All are greatly appreciated. Tim
