No communication, no cluster
Hello dn community, I have 2007 bmw has lots of issues. i have no communication with scanner. cluster is dead. wiper runs it self, rear window inop, no turn signals, no radio, no climate control. front windows working,interior light sunroof works too. this car starts and runs. to start the car I have press push start button couple times with key in the slot. With key out of the car water pump comes on every minute. door lock clicks and lights flashes itself. i could hear a clicking noise from the junction box under the dash. aslo push start button comes litt. Customers says he tried to installed the aftermarket radio and change the battery at same time. and this mess starts. then he put original redoing back in. so I removed the radio to see the wires all seems ok. checked all the fuse triple checked even for missing fuse,found blown fuse for climate control. checked can line at the radio has activity,, they both go around 4.5 v peak to peak mirror to each other. also checked high speed can line at dme,has activity even with key off. I also disconnected most muddle on d can line, like radio, climate, water pump, door lock switch, sunroof module, cas, frm, Transmission module. ibs, amplifier etc. Didn't help, I'm out ideas now, I'm suspecting JBE module could be bad since it's a gateway for cummnication, I could be wrong.... I don't wanna just change the module on my assumption. Need help .. thank you. Upkar …
Check jbe connectors for water damage first
I checked that no water sigh found even fuse box looks clean and dry
No water intrusion found anywhere in vehicle.i did clean ground straps..
I believe this car has an intelligent battery sensor on the negative cable of the battery. Try unplugging that and see if communication is restored.
please check your powers to the CAS module: BOTH terminals 30 should be HOT with the START/Stop button active that power supply comes from the rear power box on top of the battery: check and see those are hot
First, diagnostics need to be up. What are your voltages at the OBD connector when you try to communicate to the vehicle? Some 2007 vehicles have a single wire bus to the OBD connector and other 2007 vehicles have a CAN setup. Please provide the vin of the vehicle to get a specific response.
Obd connector has good power and ground,there is only one data line come from jbe module on obd is has duty cycle 0to12.im not sure if its normal here the vin.wbava33577pv65243
Please let us know your voltages at each pin and what your voltage drop is to ground on the ground side.
Ok so with car running.pin 16 has power,pin 4and 5 has ground checked with test light.pin 1 has system voltage,pin 9 has 0 to12 volt squre wave,pin 7 has system voltage and it drop to 5 volt when door lock click itself.thank you
single wire coms line: should have approx 12v on that line: comes directly from the JBE single wire 2 way comms: so there should a digital signal on that line. if the JBE is off line NO comms see attached. a good source for a diagram is NEWTIS.info just enter the last 7 of the VIN
You are on the right track, but don’t change JBE yet. This car communicates on Pin 7 through JBE but it also communicates on Pins 1 and 9. www. NewTis is a great resource. You can type in search bar and find a lot of helpful info. Pay attention to production date - yours should be 01/07 - as bmw likes to change things a lot. Try a different scanner first. jbe took care of it. now everythng works but still no comm to scanner.it was used JBE MODULE. even try diffrent scanner.i dont have access to ista. custmer doesnt wanna spend anymore money on it, hes happy that its running now. Thank you everyone for your time and suggestions...THANK YOU SO MUCH
