Car came in with these two codes. Attempted to reprogram the keys first but could not communicate with the Smart Entry Module (which is also often referred to ask the BCM I've found). All powers and ground were present and communication wires check good. Got a used BCM from a salvage yard and communication is restored, we were even able to program the keys but I still get the same codes. After reading several other posts on this site I'm convinced that the new BCM needs to be programmed into the ECU so all the immobilizer components agree. I downloaded Consult III Plus R&R as guided by J2435 toolbox and connected with Drew Tech CARDAQ-3. Got a subscription first thing in the morning and could not get the software to move past the System Call. Looking for guidance on how to program this thing, any ideas on what I may have done wrong with the Consult software? I've verified the immobilizer ring at the key cylinder is working, it grounds the orange wire sending signal to the ECU, but will only do it once, then I have to remove the key and wait about 10 seconds then it will try again. Compared with a 2000 Maxima that we also have here that starts fine and it grounds that signal every time I turn the key, no matter how fast.

I had a 2000 maxima years ago that came in for crank no start with immobilizer codes had a lock check key it was ok and he tried to reset system but no go. what we tried last was disconnect battery and do a capacitive reset and that fixed it….hope this helps.

Did you program keys or do a NATS initialization?

Had a locksmith program the keys. I've actually started the vehicle 3 times since then but as soon as the key is removed it resets the security. It allowed me to start after it sat with KOEO for a long time while I was waiting for the Consult to do the System Call.

Jordan borrow an ISCAN, an Autel, a Topdon, or a Launch. Goto NATS and select C/U initialization and use 5523 as the code. If you don't have other issues with the car you should be done.

Boyd, Totally agree with your statement. But, lets remember that only starts the C/U Initialization. Learning the keys is the next step. Which involves having all keys to be learned present. Insert key to be learned key on 10 seconds then shut off and so on with other keys to be learned. Finish by removing key and close door. He will know if he is successful if keys start vehicle after a 10…

Which is why the last sentence in my reply. With the tooling I suggested the key matching if neccesary will pop up after the initialization is successful. Cheers

Asked the old guy at the shop (I've only been a this shop a few months) about other scanners and we have a Launch, it has C/U Initialization, now I just have to get the process right. I'm not doing something right because it won't take, but at least I feel like I'm making progress. Thank you for the help. I'll update this when I get it figured out.

Jordan, Turn key on security lamp should be on solid. Run C/U Initialization. Security lamp should go out. Turn key off wait 5 seconds or so reinsert same key turn on and wait until airbag lamp goes out or about 10 seconds or so. Remove that key install another key to be learned and repeat same sequence. After all keys learned shut key off and shut doors. Wait 10 minutes. Open door and make…

Light goes out when I run C/U Initialization. Took the key out, waited 5 seconds, reinserted the same key, turned it and waited until the airbag light went out (5-6 seconds). 3 seconds after turning the key the security light came on. Took that key out and waited 5 seconds, inserted and turned my second key, 3 seconds later the security light comes on, 5-6 seconds I turned it off butbleft it in…

Jordan, Again, I will stipulate that the Smart Entrance Module has nothing to do with Immobilizer. I do not know what “site” you are using. Look at the OE wiring diagram. Reference the countless TSB's Nissan has for NATS. Look at description of NATS in SI. The correct information can be referenced easily. The NATS module which I have explained previously is mounted around the ignition lock…

Thank you, just wanted to make sure I understood. It's procedures from Identifix that had me unclear as to what components do what. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Jordan, No worries. Glad to help. Be careful of “regurgitated” information. It is rampant in our industry.

Thanks for all your help it is fixed now, bad immobilizer. Yeah, mixed up terminology definitely slowed me down on this one, once you clarified it and told which tools work, fixed in no time.

Jordan, On a 2000 Infiniti I-30 the Smart Entrance Module has nothing to do with NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System). On this system it is the NATS module which has an integrated antenna and the ECM. The remote fobs will be programmed to the Smart Entrance Module that is all. To do NATS functions with Consult 3 Plus you will need a LSID and a security card and choose Immobilizer from main menu on…

I read in another post on here that when someone replaced the ECU they had to program in the Smart Entry Module to it. So my thinking was that this ECU doesn't recognize this Smart Entry Module because it's a salvage unit. I've read all the service info I can find. A TSB I requested from Identifix says that any time that Module is replaced a C/U itialization needs to be done, so that's what I…

Infiniti's site and Drew Tech tell me to use Consult III Plus R&R, but it Consult II will do it better it's worth a try. Do you think the downloaded software with the Cardaq-3 will be sufficient?

Jordan, Lets address this one at a time. Consult 3 Plus is the latest tool from Nissan/Infiniti. You will not be able to do any Immobilizer programming unless you have a security card. In order to get a security card you need a LSID. Consult 2 is a stand alone unit that has long been discontinued. However, there are plenty of aftermarket tools that will do NATS 5.0 properly. I can assure you…

All powers and grounds have checked good, battery is good. With the replacement Smart Entry Unit installed I now have communication with all modules all the time. No other codes. Infiniti offers a software download to PC for Consult II, Consult III & NERS. I had hoped they would work with the Drew Tech J3524 CARDAQ-3 we have. Don't know of anyone around us that has a Consult II…

What tool are you using Jordan?

Autel MaxiCom MK908 is the only tool I have that lets me communicate with NATS. Our Snap On Triton D10 doesn't give me the option. But when I go into NATS, it won't let me proceed past a certain point and C/U initialization is not an option at all.

The MK series Autel is more of an inexpensive hobby tool. See if you can borrow one of the tools mentioned above.

Boyd, I have several Autel units and have not tried to learn NATS 5.0 with them. I mainly use OE tooling. I will give a try next NATS learn I have to see how proficient they are. Thank you for the info on the MK series. Many of my customers ask me about Autel products and I was unaware of a “hobby” grade tool offered. Now I know.

This one is officially fixed. Using the Launch which has C/U Initialization and clarification on which modules are which, it was easy. Bad immobilizer at the key cylinder. Originally the Smart Entry Module had no communication as well, a used one was installed and keys programmed to fix that, then a used Immobilizer and C/U Initialization got it running. Appears one of the original complaints…
