After The Repair
my question is this. Is there any sort of programming or reflashing of any ecu after replacing the transmission? automatic transmission. NTG transmission. Thank you for all your kind help!
Very likely. At a minimum you may need to reset the adaptations if supported. What was wrong with the old unit? Were there any codes? Are there any codes new codes?
Yes , it's called basic setting in VW language .you will need ODIS or VCDS.- Perform a basic setting on the DSG(R) Transmission Mechatronic (J743).
If there is component protection you will need ODIS to reset otherwise just the basic setting procedure should do it.
What service information system are you using? Do they have the procedure for "Remove and Replace"? Usually at the end it will tell you what else needs to be done. It's been my experience they always leave out "re-enable Radio" (since the battery is disconnected in the very beginning it will usually go into "Locked" mode). HTH
Customer was driving down a rough road and bottomed out on a sharp rock. punctured a hole in the oilpan and crushed the filter. drove it like that until the transmission burned up. Dealer says because theres external damage ( the hole in the oil pan) its not an acceptable core. Customer opted to go with used unit with low miles ( 38 k miles). it drove 8 miles before it failed. this next unit has…
Delio - where there faults stored in the transmission that only lasted 8 miles?? Was that trans shifting properly after you installed and road tested it? Was the fluid type correct and the proper procedure for fluid level followed? Hard to say if you can perform procedures suggested for basic setting or coding as who knows what "several scan tools" can do......
The transmission was shifting prperly during the test drive. turned around at a conveinience store and when i accelerated from a stop i heared metal grind and forward motion ceased. transmission would not engage in any gear in cluding park. on to second transmission. this one is giving me a p096200 dtc. identifix and mitchel have no info on this code. scan tools i have are maxidas ds708, solus…
Thank you for your help so far. i did see that on mitchel1. but no location of the solenoid is given. neither on identifix. i also read that it might not be possible to purchase the solenoid separately. does anyone know if vw will let one access the diagnostic info with a 3 day subscription so as to trouble shoot this code?
