J2534 Chrysler Programming

We primarily work on foreign vehicles here at our shop but do get a fair amount of domestics. I find myself doing updates on Chrysler products fairly frequently. We've been using Drew Technologies RAP box for these cars. We also have the Cardaq-Plus from Drew Tech which we use primarily for OEM Toyota Diagnostics. I'd like to use the Cardaq to program Chryslers in the future and have found great information over at the NASTF website.

For the guys with experience, is the Cardaq Plus (1st gen) still viable for programming and are the challenges of dealing with Chrysler programming worth the effort? It looks to be that there are many issues with Chrysler programming looking at recent posts.

Viable can be used very loosely. Just because it's not supported/validated does not mean it will not work. Your coverage will be limited. You support will be non-existent, and your success will be 100% yours. That being said I highly recommend upgrading to a newer J2534 device such as the CarDAQ+3 or Autel J2534.

I am currently getting set up for it. I have been told that it requires a win 10 platform which I have so I just need an older Chrysler to program to see if I have…

Thanks for the replies everyone, its really a shame to lose support on expensive equipment that really isn't that old.

Oscar, Phil … here. I don't know but think maybe you have come to my classes in Oxnard. Your interface will work just fine for old Chrysler prior to 2009 or at least prior to CAN. Wi-Tech does not work pre CAN so all of the older ones have to be updated using the same old interface that looks like it was developed about 1994. I have used the new Wi-tech 2.0 with my J2534 Drewtech Mongoose…

Oscar, all of my classes in Oxnard are sold through O'Reilly Auto Parts. Check with your O'Reilly sales person, and if you don't have one, call the Oxnard store and ask to speak with Frank Magana.
