AC Delco TDS
I am having issues connecting my laptop to the AC Delco TDC software. I cannot install the "Wrapper". Tech support informed me that my laptop PC (Personal) will not work as is. And of coarse immediately went into a sales pitch for their Enterprise grade computer. And due to current circumstances, financially I am doing good to keep doors open much less put a couple of grand on a new Laptop. There were several things that he said that leads me to believe that my laptop will work if I knew what to do. He told me he was being recorded and could not help me. I have already tried the 32 Bit Jave and used Internet Explorer and tried Firefox. Cannot get past the "wrapper install failed". Any words of wisdom. I use this laptop for Cat and Cummins diagnostic software, so I know my computer is no wimp.
Run internet explorer with full administrator privileges. See the guide I have uploaded.
I reset everything to Administrator....no luck.
Java has to be run with administrator access. Navigate to the bin folder (in screenshot), select java, right click, properties, compatibility tab, and then check the box "Run this program as administrator". Do the same for javaw and javaws. Then install the J2534 wrapper again.
As an important side note: Tech support for TIS2WEB is now asking for access to your computer and running hardware verification prior to offering support. If your computer doesn't meet the specs you can't lie about it anymore.
Yes, that's when the sales pitch started. lol
Thank you. Ill let you know how it comes out.
It would help if we knew the specs of your laptop so we can see how far out of current spec you are as well as tailor the suggestions to better fit your computer.
Requires minimum of an I3,5,or 10 6th generation or above, windows 10 professional 64 bit and Java 32 bit. Bought mine off E-Bay refurbished for 375.00
Hi Lonny, I am aware of the minimum requirements, I have a couple laptops here that are above them. I also have some I am using that are below spec. I wanted to know what Rick was using so I could offer fixes that match his system. It won't do me much good if I tell him to do something that would fix one problem but could cause another problem on a different setup. Thanks, Eric
First observation is I do not have Win10 Pro.
Having a hard time believing I cant run a internet based program when this computer runs Cummins Insite and Cat ET, far more powerful programs than this TDS. The Delco Tech man hinted at if I knew what I was doing this computer would run. But he could not tell me what to do. His job was to push their computer.
There is a Youtube video that might help you with the wrapper install. Put J2534 wrapper install in your search and click on the video. Hope this helps.
I personally would not post a screen shot of PC info. Luckily Diag Network allows posts to be edited.
Is anything safe anymore? Thanks for the input.
There is nothing in that screen capture that is anything to worry about. The information shown doesn't give out anything important about your computer. Eric

Why not purchase a Win10 Pro upgrade?
I used it a couple weeks ago, despite saying there was no support for WIndows 7, it still worked. I have NOT however updated Java from I think v6.x, I keep telling it to update later. I remember issues letting it update some years ago, so chose to "leave everything as is". I guess I will find out next time I fire it up. (Not very often really. I do Fords a few times a day so thats where my…
I just used it last week but know it is a ticking time bomb. I haven't had the time to upgrade the GM lab top but have a backup ready to go.
As of yet nothing has worked. I have been hesitant to spend more money on this laptop. It is about 4 years old. It has been a good computer. But at this moment, with business coming to a crawl, a new computer is not in my best financial interest at the moment. I am going to try the Win Pro upgrade. Will let you know. I should be getting a download key any moment.
Cheapest thing is upgrade. If PC is working good you are looking at maybe $100.00. If hard drive fails you can install another. If something else fails may not be worth investing money into it.
Next time spend a little more and get at least an i5 processor, an i7 would be better yet but is usually not necessary. The i3 processor isn't much good for anything more than web browsing and email reading. The exact same computer with an i5 would and a SSD (solid state drive) would be so much faster and nicer to use. Even if you can get it to work I would still consider replacing it in a year…
4 years ago this was a top rated computer in its price range. As we know in technology, a couple months after buying the latest and greatest, it is already outdated. No different than some of our diagnostic tools. I got a IR thermometer when it first came out. Seems I paid about $600 off the tool truck. You can buy them all day long with a laser and a greater range for under $50. Thermal imager…
First an introduction. I've been working in the computer field for over 30 years, so I know computer hardware, I'm not just spouting off to make you mad, I'm trying to help you and save you some time, money and effort. Take it or leave it. Stating that it was the top rated computer in it's price range isn't saying anything. If you bought a top of the line Chevy Colorado 4 years ago it still…
thank you. I am somewhat computer literate. I do not keep up with the latest technology and unfortunately at the mercy of the sales crew. I remember the day I bought this laptop, the day before mine crashed and at the time did not have a desktop backup. I was caught off guard and stated what the computer was being used for and the sales person proceeded to show me the different options. I cant…
Thank you for all the suggestions and help, For the next one that comes along like me and near computer brain dead. Here is the combo. Must have Windows Pro, Must have the 32 Bit Java, Must use Internet Explorer due to Microsoft Edge and Java do not play well together. Java and Explorer must be set to Run As Administrator, And my little Laptop had no issues after that, thanks again. I do not do…
Great, glad you got it figured out.
Still a bit peeved at AC Delco that their only solution was to buy their high dollar super duper laptop, when obviously a few tweaks was all I needed and a $60 upgrade of my operating system.
Having been tech support for years I can understand their position. The guy you talked to was probably instructed to offer no help if the computer didn't meet minimum specs, he would probably risk his job if he did. I have never recommended anyone in business buy the minimum spec anything. While it saves money up front it costs money in the long run, slow performance equals time wasted and…
