Fleetwood RV on Sprinter chassis 02359
Hi,
I have an 08 Sprinter 3.0 Diesel with a p2359 code. The owner changed the turbo because old was one was locked up. He replaced it with a aftermarket reman turbo. Now it gets a p2359 code for Boost pressure sensor.
According to the service manual, when I actuate the BPS to 100%, a test light connector to batter positive should be lit when back probing the BPS. Meaning the PCM controls the ground. At 0% actuation via scan tool, it should not be lit. However, I get the exact opposite results: at 0% actuation, test light lights up and at 100% actuation it does not. I even tried the old turbo BPS and get the same results.
So, my question is, is the driver in the PCM bad or am I missing something? I have smoked the intake and found no leaks. I attached a screenshot from the service manual for easy reference.
Are you referring to the actuator on the turbo itself or the pressure sensor?
Are you certain that you connected to positive? What scan tool are you using, and have you checked operation in normal operating mode? It is very possible that the scan tool is commanding the opposite of what it says.
Yes. There is a positive stud on left front of engine. My test light is connected to that. It lights up when I touch block ground.
This exact same thing happened to me. Customer provided garett reman turbo and the same code set after it was installed. Did this test and it was reverse of what the service manual said. Unfortunately customer took the vehicle before we found a solution.
