PSA 308 T7 - No Comms via OBD
Hey all, first time post but have been watching and taking note of lots of posts, awesome stuff.
I have a Peugeot 308 T7 in, the history is long but in a nut shell the car runs and drives fine it just has many warning lights on the dash and LCD display.
The worse thing is I can get comms via the OBD and I have tried many scan tools.
Anyone had simular our know of this happening?
John - ddpNT - Australia
Hi John, PSA vehicles are very difficult to communicate using aftermarket scan tools, it is certainly very hit and miss, some modules it will locate and others it will not. If you have both your ignition and terminal 30 supplies including your grounds at the DLC plug I would advise this is likely a communication protocol issue between your tool and the vehicle. You can try going in via EOBD to…
Thanks Ryan. I am using both Diagbox/PP2000 and PSACom which have both never let me done before. Send me an email as I normally deal with a great company in Bristol that have OE tools. I have recorded the following from the OBD plug: Pin 1: 12.6v Pin 3: 2.5v Pin 4/5: no voltage (.9 & .3ohms) Pin 6: 2.6v Pin 7: 3.2v Pin 8: 2.5v Pin 14: 2.4v Pin 16: 12.6v
Ok, John, the BSI is the gateway on this vehicle and controls communication with the other modules, it isn't uncommon for these units to fail however if you have a spare kicking around DO NOT plug it in as a tester otherwise whichever vehicle has the higher mileage it will sync it to that mileage. If possible, using an oscilloscope check pins 6&14 to check for activity, you may need to…
Thanks Ryan. Regardless of having comms issues, data transmission speed is 500 KBits/s is what I have been looking for and I am not seeing anything. What would be causing this? How can I contact you easier?
Ok, likely the BSI is possibly malfunctioning however powers and grounds would need to be verified and checking the network after the BSI also in case there is a breakdown between the tool and the BSI. You can contact me on Facebook if you like. (Ryan …)
Please check the battery charging system, it might be over charged. Go to parameter measurement or check any ecu having battery voltage fault.
Thanks Rizwan, unfortunately I can't check with the scan tool yet, I am either being blocked or one of the modules is corrupt and causing the issue on the network. Pin 1: 12.6v Pin 3: 2.5v Pin 4/5: no voltage (.9 & .3ohms) Pin 6: 2.6v Pin 7: 3.2v Pin 8: 2.5v Pin 14: 2.4v Pin 16: 12.6v I have already nagged the car owner to buy the correctly sized battery as the one installed is not to PSA…
If you need any diagram please let me know and send me vin by whatsapp …
Thanks Rizwan but I have Servicebox so I have every diagram.
Hi John, I've had this issue with AM scan tools including up to date Autologic which used to be the best out there for PSA but they don't cover the T7 platform, I did have comms and decent coverage with Autel MS908 again up to date. I also have genuine PSA so use that for more in depth / full coverage. As I'm in the UK I know Ryan and can vouch for him as my genuine tool was supplied by him…
Thanks Robert. I might try the Autel but commonly I don't bother with AM tools. I have 2 identical 308 T7's side by side and both 2009 - PSACom and Diagbox both work fine on one (the loaner test vehicle) but not on the other (the car in for diagnostics) so it isn't the interface or scan tool I am having issues with. I am watching the PSA merge with Opel and Vauxhall, to date Holden is still…
Well - this took a while, 9 months to be exact - I have found that it's the BSI at Fault. Happy to explain how to anyone who'd like to know... :-) I'm a happy tech thats for sure!
