Mitchell 1 Down!
Anybody know why Mitchell is down? Also noticed website and phones are also down.
It has been down all morning. I was wondering the same thing.
Neil Mark in southeastern colorado it’s been down all morning
yes, its been down all day and the shitting part is that no one takes your call. Some customer service. We certainly could not do that to our customers without getting an earful or a bad review!!!!!!
Yes we tried every computer we found out it’s all over the county
Yup, my snap on guy told me their system is tied to it as well and they’re all down. Been hours :(
It's raining here in Southern California… everything shuts down and people lose their minds:)
From what I understand via a coworker. The offices, and servers are in California. Apparently there was some nasty weather that caused flooding. This may be what is going on.
I looked at there Facebook page. Storms knocked somethings out I guess.
All Snap On web based stuff is down. Even scan tools when hooked up to WiFi. Found out by default that my Pro-Link would operate when it was out of range from WiFi. I don't know if this fix is just for the Pro-Link, but in two of my friends shops their snap on scan tools don't work. I haven't called them back to see if they work if they are not hooked to the web.
Yup we are down also here in Georgetown Ma …deduct it off the bill (:
From what I heard its a server problem from weather anomoly…. I don't know what it is but I am gonna be hunting the back room for my stack of Shopkey 3.5" floppies here in a bit if it isn't back up soon.
You should put those in a time capsule for a few years and then see if anybody know what they are.
I can't, its my only working copy of Doom II and Castle Wolfenstien.
NAPA Tracs uses Mitchell for labor, freezes up the whole program when I try to look up labor.
They are ruining my business here in DC today :(
ProDemand has been going down for hours at a time every couple of days for the last several weeks. That said, every Snap-On property has blown up today. TechAuthority, IdentiFix, KiaTechInfo, VolvoTechInfo, Okta, WiTech, ShopKey, etc are all down today.
All on here probably know about Amazon Web Services (AWS). Virtual server space, in the cloud, all that good stuff. When AWS hiccups lots of stuff goes down. More and more organizations atr turning to AWS to be their server space. One other thing. How here have actual landline service for phones? Very few including myself. So if something blips the internet, or the cloud servers yours phones…
I have a land line at home and here at the shop.
We just switched from land lines because call quality and noise was horrible. If you got good lines good but Century Link would not update 40 year old lines.
Centurylink is a POS. Had it for years back home. Such a headache to get them to fix stuff streetside, that THEY are responsible for. Won't ever give them another dime. Hopefully Elon works all the bugs out of Starlink for us folks in the boonies and puts predatory companies like, Centurylink out of business. Sorry to rant off topic but I ABSOLUTELY HATE Centurylink.
My shop uses century link, and the lines are roughly 50 years old. I have 20mbps internet with them, because the quality is is bad, that I have to have a connection that fast to be stable enough for voip.
Cox just brought us in fiber. So we switched to VoIP and high speed internet. A few bugs to work out(learning the system) but seems good, and clean calls.
So, how are you guys surviving right now? Everything is still down. I had to cancel my jobs for today put my Monday people on guard, since I probably won't be able to work for them either if this isn't fixed. Not being able to look up service information or program even the most basic vehicles (Chrysler/FCA, Toyota, Kia, etc.) is going to be a deal-breaker for me.
We also have Direct-Hit for SI and estimating, and Real-Time labor guide, so we can still use those. Integrated parts catalogs, including Repair-Link, still work. Napa Pro-Link decodes license numbers. I need truck.prodemand but it isn't essential right now. Getting by, but I sure hope for functionality on Monday. We are still doing much better than people in Ukraine, so counting…
Mitchell and snapon sites are still down over 48 hours later. I can't imagine anything that would cause them to be down that long. Any major event, and they should be able to switch to other servers.
Sean I hear the theme music from a 1960s sci-fi show in the background “You have now entered the twilight zone”
Yeah - this is getting dangerously close to a work-stop for some of us.
Have they tried unplugging the servers and plugging them back in again? On a serious note, I suspect this will turn out to be one of 2 things. Either it's the result of a serious hack (ransomware) or It may be related to the the world wide financial systems actions to block and shut down all Russian financial activity. It's possible with all the different interconnections between companies and…
ctrl-alt-del Definitely NOT “weather” for a multitude of reasons, not least of which is the inherent redundancy of the backbone. This is a massive infrastructure failure. And the fact that they aren't even contacting their biggest customers - like Bridgestone/Firestone, who were the first to lose their entire estimating/tracking system on Friday - to let them know what is going on is telling.
At work we have Prodemand plus Identifix and Napa Tracs so we still have service info and invoicing. I use my Altus-drive a lot though so I will miss that. Plus a lot of the scanner features will be affected too. This could prove to be a massive disaster for Snap On.
Sure sounds like the Kronos attack from a few months ago, huh? Wiped out our payroll for over a month.
IT’S BACK!!!!!!! Thank god. If it was still down, it would’ve been a mess!
Prodemand seems to be working but Altusdrive is still offline.
