Aftermarket converter

Kevin Technician Alberta Posted   Latest

Hello crew. I'm seeing a lot of RV (e450 and class a style) coming with stolen converter. Some are willing to delete, some wants to go with insurance which means at the mercy of the dealer. Few exhaust shop around gets away with aftermarket knowing its the solution from experience thief as they have no precious metal and/or value.

We all know some vehicle are just not happy with aftermarket converter, currently isuzu is having a severe shortage which goes as over 400 on backorder.

Any guys were have a brand of choice or are in the exhaust industry as I would like to know what they go by.

The shop I'm dealing with will actually do a tune only for the emission even with aftermarket cats if problem may occur.

Just little story from one customer they had. Newer ram 1500, converter sits further up (more efficient/harder to get at… I don't know) but, the thief would literally cut the fender to get to it 20k damage. By the time set and done.

Let's start a discussion.

Good weekend

Re-write your post so that it all makes sense, then maybe we can have a decent discussion. If you want a … discussion, start with a … post with clear points to consider.

Maybe English is not his primary language. Maybe French Canadian? It is difficult to read though.

He is in Alberta, not Quebec. Regardless, it is obvious that he didn't try very hard.

We have personally used BRE catalytic converters for Honda Pilots, Accords, Ford Vans and some Chevrolet. Some have put 50k miles already and no problems yet. We are not a muffler shop, but we happened to come across this brand because of a customer and muffler shop recommended. So we took a shot with one of our guys car and then have done a handful for a couple of years. Maybe someone can…

BRE is actually Bosal, which has been around for a long time. I am sure that the BRE series isn't as good as the OEM units that Bosal makes but the price isn't too painful and Rock Auto has stock available (I ordered one yesterday due to someone cutting off my F-350's catalytic converter Wednesday afternoon). – Dave
