Hello All,

Here is the latest installment of Diagnostic Network videos on the subject of Honda V-TEC. This same technology is also used for cylinder deactivation on the Honda Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) System. This system has been around for quite long time but I had never seen a good breakdown of how it worked. Thanks to Diagnostic Network for the high quality video work!

David, the modules are now available with a subscription to Honda's service information. The nice thing is you no longer need to buy them individually that way.

I can only recall having to look at/ diagnose one of these system once and this particular vehicle reminded me of Johnny Cash's One Piece At A Time song. A kind of Frankenstein's Honda. Honda provides phenomenal info on these systems and Honda’s factory ”Sevice Information System” can be purchased for about $10 a day.

Thanks Brandon, I'll have to look back at the details of that vehicle. I can't remember what it was that I struggled with finding. I do remember that another shop (Honda Specialist actually) asked me to look at it for a low power complaint. I found that the VTEC system was not functioning and I was trying to determine if it had something to do with incompatibility (frankenstein's Honda), a
