No Key No start No Comm
The Keys for this car were stolen so they ordered new Ford keys and had a key programmer guy try to Program them. The guy said he could not communicate with it and left, not sure what he did. Also, they may have tried to disable it in some way in case the thieves came back to get the car. Nobody is sure if that happened or not. It is a push button start and the alarm is activated. I cannot access it with any scan tool we have to see if I can figure out what is going on. I get a message in the cluster that the key is not found and to place it next to the antenna, so it is trying to do something, but it cannot recognize the key. It seems to me that even if I need to reprogram keys that it should be able to get to the run position so I can talk to the modules and reprogram the keys, but it won't wake up anything when I push the button. I have checked all the fuses to anything I see related to the anti-theft and start functions, all good. My questions are do I need IDS to talk to the modules, and what does the BCM need to turn on the modules.
Turn the flashers on and try to communicate. What scanner are you using?
That woke it up enough to get into it with the scanner but when I try to get PAT function it say no comm
Sorry Jim, I have to experience with either scanner you're using. At this point I would delete all programmed keys and start over. I use an Autel IM608 for this, if you have access to one you will be able to do this. I think others on here can be more helpful…good luck.
First, check glove box for the booklet that comes with car and see if there is a business card looking thing inside with the door code on it. This will turn off the alarm and assist in programming. Next you would just go straight to programming keys. Don't need to worry about turning on the switch or any modules other then the bcm at this point. As Mike MacMullen suggested, turn on the flashers…
No Card it does seem like there is a universal code you can use but I don't know it
You'll find the door code on the BCM. White sticker 5 numbers maybe followed by an “L”. If you can get BCM PIDs on your scanner, you can also often find it in the data PIDs. Used to be one PID contained the code, but I think that '15 spreads it across five data PIDs, one for each number in the sequence. Also, under special functions in the BCM you may find the “factory keyless code”
Ya I need to go back and look at the PIDs to see if the keypad code is there, I know with IDS it is but I don't remember seeing them with my scanners. I did not get a chance to get back to it today, but I will look first thing in the morning
I will look again I did not see anything that looked like the key code the first time, I missed it.
Thank you I found the code and it worked. Now i get into PATS but it wants a RFA code. The only keys I have programed is when I worked for ford and I did not need that so not sure how to get one. I will call Ford I guess.
2015 Focus will require LSID/NASTF credentials for Pats access instead of the earlier system that used a 10 minute delay. If you had a dealer login you wouldn't need LSID, but without one or the other, the OEM software will not complete the task you are performing.
Ya That is what I'm thinking. I'm trying to get us registered with Motorcraft but they have not sent me a log in yet. Same with NASTF. I would send it back to the dealer, but they could not figure out how to program it. I believe that because I used to work their Ha. My Password for Ford expired or i would just borrow their VCM.
you can try to find a local programmer or If you have a locksmith local to you, he may be willing to provide credentials for the cost of a service all if you have all your paper in order.
I have programmed a lot of Ford keys and Fobs and never was asked for an RFA code. I only commented to see how you make out with this for future reference. Good luck.
You need to put the FOB in the pocket. Usually in the center console. What scanner are you using?
Many Ford products are taken out of theft by using the pad on the door and entering the default pin code.
