What's the background on the transmission? Was it replaced by somebody in the past? You may want to look at the QR code on the trans range sensor and verify that that's what's in the TCM

As I read the TSB (and to be honest, I only skimmed a few pages of the 105 page TSB NTB17-039f), you have to do a whole lot more than reflash the TCM to correct the issue. Also, I'm not sure if a reflash will delete the forward clutch learning value, but if so, it may be necessary to perform the learning procedure. (Whoops! I just noticed you already tried a relearn.) Good luck. Glad it's not…

For clear P17f0 you need to rewrite coding data of control valve

Ok I just got a 14 Nissan Pathfinder with that same code. Tried erasing 3 times. Took on road test and transmission shifts perfect. So I went into special functions In the transmission module and did the memory erase and there is a procedure to follow. took like 3 minutes also did a g sensor recalibrate went back to erase code and this time it cleared. No codes present. Scan tool used was autel…

Without replacing the sub assembly and control valve in this vehicle, you are doing a disservice to your customer. That particular dtc is tattooed to the valve body until it is replaced and the control valve solenoid files are changed. The judder you have missed on your test drives occur in a very small mph and load window at first where the valve body strategies can not hide the problem.(They…

Oh yes of course. I should edit my initial post. The car came to my shop from another shop that had replaced transmission and reprogrammed Tom but could not clear P17f0. I tried erasing 3 times but until I did procedure I mentioned earlier code clearing had been unsuccessful. Just thought it might help. Good luck

The other shop may have replaced the cvt with a used unit. I agree with Christopher in this sense. The control valve and sub assembly should be replaced and eeprom recalibrated with the new data in order to clear the code. The P17Fx codes are used for inspection purposes and will not illuminate the CEL, but are set when a judder in detected.

What is the procedure for writing these files? And, can it be done with NERS? Or, does it require Consult? Will the test drive procedure work instead? Or, is that just a way to see if it actually has ‘judder’?

The file to allow clearing the dtc either comes on a cd or is generated from scanning the qr on the range switch and using either asist/consult or consult r2r. I am unaware of any other method. You are correct about the test drive being to verify the concern. The valve body strategy in most rpm and load windows is successful in hiding the harmonics/slip at the chain by simply applying more…
